Matchroom, put a SKIP INTRO button on the US Open intro

I'm hugely appreciative of Matchroom and the intro is fine the first time, but there is zero reason to torture viewers with it every time one logs in.

    WPBA Fine of $2,000

Absolutely right, and you don't have to go very high. Most jobs are "at will" employment, not contractual, and often it's just right there in the Employee Handbook that you don't work for competitors.

Figured BEM handle, on a Players PureX pool cue. Real, or Fake / Decal / Graphic Overlay?

FWIW, the cue on the left is a Merry Widow Players Rengas with Maple handle, both solid woods. I have another with the same woods, different figuring, also no points, no decals, no fake anything. I can't speak to points on the OP, but I wouldn't be surprised if the points were decals. (The...

Figured BEM handle, on a Players PureX pool cue. Real, or Fake / Decal / Graphic Overlay?

I just advised against too much certainty without handling the cue, but the handle looks like curly/birdseye to me. Could the Chinese make a Merry Widow with a curly maple handle and some combination of wood and decals for the price a U.S. made Schmelke plain jane? Sure they could.

Figured BEM handle, on a Players PureX pool cue. Real, or Fake / Decal / Graphic Overlay?

A while back, Players had an Exotic Woods series that included a number of unwrapped Merry Widows. They sell very quickly when they show up on eBay, etc. I have several--they're all lovely unadorned wood--including two that are absolutely real Rengas butt cap and forearm with real, solid...

    To Be a Better Player

Yes! This view is backed up 100% by Eckhardt Tolle's book, The Power of Now. There we learn that all we have in this life, ever, is this specific instant. The rest is our mind creating a future or looking backwards to the past.

    Unshakeable Performance

With all the ridiculous, uninformed opinions that crop up on this forum, when someone has something of genuine interest to say--I would include revealing what one gets from a pricey, high-profile training experience in that category--who cares about a little self-serving promotion or...

Foul That Cost Kelly Fisher the World 8-Ball Title … Was It the Correct Call?

I'm missing something. Was the cue ball touching the rail after the shot? If so, it was a legal hit. If not, the ruling seems right. Or is the argument that it did hit the rail and came back off it?

    Pia Filler hates wood shafts

My first LD shaft was a 314-3. I bought a Rhino CF just to see if there was a difference. First reaction: I didn't have to hit the CB as hard. Second reaction: I no longer had to think about compensating for deflection at all. Yeah, I've seen the Dr. Dave videos, but that was my experience, my...

Two fundamentals of pool to avoid sounding foolish for years

Whoa. How do you figure? There are not many pros who don't stroke straight. You don't stroke straight, you miss a whole lot. Pros go straight through on the CB line, whatever they do in practice strokes.

Anyone Use A Rhino Carbon Fiber Shaft?

I don't give deflection a thought with my Rhino + Kamui tip, but I'm away from home for 2-3 mos now playing with a wood shaft and I have to compensate for deflection.

Did going from a low-end cue to high-end improve your game?

Just cues, let's leave aside shaft/deflection discussion. I don't mean to commit a sacrilege here, but... If you're playing with, say, a Schmelke with a nice Kamui tip added, I don't see that a more expensive cue is going to help you stroke straighter. As regards other presumed benefits of high...

Sofia Mast "retiring?" The state of American pool

I will miss seeing her in tournament play scrapping her way upwards against the ten or so elite women who show up regularly. And I'll miss the mini-drama of seeing whether she or Savannah will make it into that top tier. But she's making the right decision and she's young enough to come back if...
