Is Might get me Kickoff or Ban from AZBilliards... But I question Bob Jewett Post about value of books????

As we all know, playing pool has always been a road to riches. The oligarchs of our sport, like Bob Jewett, make the really big money by manipulating the market for pool books.

    Wrapless pool cues

Wrapped cues offer some give or cushioning reducing hand fatigue over extended play? Nah.

Jean Balukas - why did she stop?

I don't fault Robin. Balukas trash talked during a match and it pissed Robin off. She decided, OK the hell with you I'm lodging a complaint. She'd have no way of knowing what the TDs would do, but she had every right to say she didn't like what happened. Which is not unreasonable if an opponent...

Why did I miss the ball? Did my aim fail, or was it my mechanics?

You may have good mechanics that simply break down during the course of a session for any number of reasons: becoming tired; your head/cue/shot line alignment gets out of whack on long shots due to your vision; your opponent is putting pressure on you and you start gripping the cue tighter or...

Why is running English always (or at least usually) used for multi rail kicks?

If you prefer to hit the cue substantially harder than it needs to be hit--to get it where you want it--inside English is your meat. Good luck with those multi-rail kicks.

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

Yes, your point was pretty clear and I agree with you: it's absurd to use a piece of equipment because some pro uses it. Unfortunately, that's not what the thread is about: the OP went nowhere near discussing that or recommending anything like that. It raised a question about the numbers related...

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

"WHY THE F&*K does there need to be a list of players using this-or-that shaft?? What is the point??" Because people are interested, that's why. They want a piece of data about a trend in their favorite sport. I don't need a warm-fuzzy feeling about what shaft I'm using. I'm just interested...

    Predator's WPA Women's World 9 Ball

I expected this to be close as I think they play equal, but Kristina has a better break and Seoa has a very slight edge in kicking and safeties. Seoa broke poorly (her weak spot), but so did Kristina this time, so Seao had a slight edge. It couldn't have been any slighter. Great match.

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

Yeah, that was pretty obvious. The only way to keep it unmarked is to not use it. Holds true for a lot of collectibles.

    What do I have here?

Brazilian Rosewood has been protected internationally since (I believe) 1971 under the CITES agreement. It's illegal to harvest or import. It's far and away the most desirable tonewood for acoustic guitars, so Braz guitars are expensive. Not sure that is Brazilian as there are no reddish hints...

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

Yow. That's my idea of a custom. I have 6 Players and Schmelke Merry Widows/Plane Janes, all of which I use with a CF shaft and they play great. No decals, no points, just Zebrawood, Rengas, Curly Maple, BIrdseye Maple, Bocote and Rosewood. But I can see splurging on a custom that looked like...

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

To each his or her own, but I've never understood the appeal of $$$ customs, because discussions of "hit" aside, they're mainly about visual beauty. The skill that goes into making them is absolutely incredible, but to my eye a 30-inch long, little more than inch-thick cylinder is just not much...

    Champion/Pro or Shortstop/Amateur/Banger. It's your choice.

I'll accept the OP as his advice on approaching the mental game of pool. But spare me the self-assurance and certainty. There is no golden key to getting through a rack.
