Ok, here you go. Some of you posters said you would like to see pics of the two new cues that arrived yesterday.

I finally got to hit some balls with them. So far both of them have failed as I keep missing balls. Must be a design flaw. Certainly couldn't be me..:)

The Pechauer has a regular Elkmaster tip. The Joss has their Premium Layered Black Soft tip. Both are going to have to be changed out to a Pressed Elkmaster. The black lizard leather adds alot I think. And both cues have my name engraved on the butt-capp but I wasn't about to show that. People would be hounding me for lessons if they knew who I was and found out where I live.

AND.........please, keep the insults, stupid comments, and other stuff to yourself. Just don't do it.

If it makes you feel better...I haven't missed a shot with either. Both are beautiful but I like the JOSS design better. Good luck.

The Pshow might pass with a black shaft. The Joss, keep the regular shaft. Probably just the pics (not enough contrast) but not crazy about the leather wraps.

The Pechauer has the Rogue CF shaft from Pechauer.

Joss has the regular maple shaft.

The leather looks really good. Has a better feel than Irish Linen.

I have real abalone inlays in a JFlowers cue.
I don't think that it's a very expansive material.

I think we are assuming...

If we are then I would say that it cost at least 10x more to get flat shaved abalone shells, cut/grind them down to shape, and install than to just pour some metallic acrylic resin and swirl it around.

This is full retail. Knife makers and cue builders have better sources.

This is about what I thought. If it costs $5 dollars for the abalone then it probably cost .50 cents for the equivalent epoxy.

I think my point didn't come across correctly. I felt natural inlay cue butts would naturally have a mark up. So I was asking what the price point was. Products turned into luxury products doesn't really translate into price + cost of luxurious materials. Which is negligible increase in material cost, still the cost goes up 10 fold. So if I bought an inlay cue I think i would expect pay at least $200 dollars more even though the abalone only costed an extra 5 dollars.

Cartier charges at least 10x more per gram of gold in there products. Why anyone buys it when they can get the same amount of gold from Kay's for 10x cheaper? Is it the name, or craftsmanship and design? Is it so different with pool sticks?

So maybe Joss is the Cartier of Pool cues.
And Maybe Players and Action are the Kay Jewelers. I wonder if they have real inlays in their butts...
