Any videos of Dr Dave in an actual match?

The point of an Instructors Match would be to see, under game conditions, how THEY try to apply the techniques they're telling us to apply. I suspect I'd learn something from that. Sure, it would be entertaining, because many of us average players appreciate and admire these guys, but it's not about judging how strong a player anyone is.

Where does Chip live?
I’m thinking about taking a lesson from Hillbilly
He's around Pittsburgh.

You can get coaching from him through text, phone or email I believe.

I've never taken a lesson from him(we've been good friends for 15 to 20 years and i don't want to be a pro player ) , but have heard and personally seen shots that you'd never think of. I've seen expert players look like 2 year olds when it comes to shot selection and execution as he's explaining why they should play the shot his way.), I've never seen him proven wrong or really any argument to play it the other way after they try it his way.

He's the real deal and actually coaches a few pro players(top 50 men and women) we all know

It’s been discussed in the forums forever whether an instructor to be a good instructor has to be a good player.
I am in the camp that the quality as a Player is separate from the Quality as an instructor
So how well Dr. Dave plays or a tournament among the instructors regardless who wins I don’t think reflects on how good of an instructor they are
Kinda.

But there's still a line.

If you can't beat me, I'm not likely to spend any money for you to teach me...

I had Golf lesson from a man who had lost his lower leg .He could see my problem and gave advice on hope to fix it ..... He could not PLAY ....

It's probably best he doesn't play. Not saying he isn't any good.
'
It keeps the mystique and invincibility going.

Kind of like Bruce Lee, we never saw him fight competitively but believe me he can kick anyone's ass.

I'd like to see a few Ring games with Dr. Dave, Bob Jewett and Mark Wilson, where they're competing, but also talking shot analysis, what they're thinking, how well they feel they're executing, etc. Yeah, I know, not gonna happen.
Mark was a pro player, Bob is known as being a fairly high gear player, Dr. Dave is not. Doesn't mean he can't teach, but a match would be pretty lopsided.

So much easier and wiser to trust folks like Darren Appleton or Neils Fiejen for knowledgable instruction than some guy named Dr Dave. Just is what it is. Not to say that lesser players can't teach but all things being equal how on earth can Dr Dave know a thing if he's never competed at a high level. There's more to this game than drills, hole reinforcers and slow mo video. No substitute for experience and Dr Dave just about has to be 3rd in this list behind Mark Wilson and Bob Jewett. Age and health are factors but if everyone is say 50 years old and moderately good health I imagine Dr Dave gets run out of the gym.

Name a mid tier level player and I believe Dr Dave can take the guy over the hump and beat a SVB or Gorst.

He may not be able to play according to you but I believe he can coach someone to victory.

based on how you play
i can understand how you could feel that way ...... 😂 😂 😂 😂
(just kidding david)
i still think you need to separate a persons teaching /instruction skills and their playing skills.
JMHO

you're picking two of the best pro player instructors there, but not all pro players that sell instruction hours are as good, or good at all..

i didn't know dr dave was a pool instructor at all tbh. i thought he was a youtuber breaking down pool shots into physical theory, mostly? he's very good at that. i think we're lucky to have guys like dave and bob in pool, and on azb

He is an asset to the pool community than not.

I'm still waiting for an idiot "pool influencer" to come on the scene and make an ass of himself.

Not enough people know who these people are that would give a crap and get enough ratings to make it worth while lol

I agree. The best golf instructors never won majors. They may have not had the nerve to win on that stage but it doesn’t mean they don’t have incredible knowledge and the ability to teach it with your game. Plenty of great players can’t teach worth a damn lol it’s a separate skill
Ben Hogan did write a book and put out some videos. But yes, not too many champions became great instructors.
