So now I have a Diamond

I know you all have been waiting with baited breath for the next installment of “So now I have a Diamond”

Got the roll of 1/8” 60d rubber for the new cushion facings. The cushions are in great shape, the facings, not so much.

Thought about going to 1/4” but I play on 4.5” Pro-AMs at the pool room so gonna keep it the same. Pocketing balls is more fun than missing…

Order if you like, but go ahead and build the table as-is. It might take them 1 year or more to deliver your parts.
Yeah, I really want to get to banging.
I'd go ahead and set it up. Enjoy it in the meantime. If possible leave all the extra cloth on the edges so it will be easy to put on again and have something to get a hold on.

Got all the staples out of the rails. They are a little chewed up, so I filled in all the staple mess with wood glue. I have been kinda cleaning as I go and this is what is coming off the top of the rails. Kinda gross…

At least it was played.

Nice table. What happened to the pockets?
Seriously I think you’re missing a few parts.

Found a few more parts…

Got the new feather strips cut to size, got the rail cloth ripped and ready to install. Still need to finish the cushion facings. I am really getting excited about playing on this table. So much so that I bought a brand new set of Centennials!! Got a pretty good deal on them but just couldn’t, in all good conscience, not, have a new set of balls for a new table.

One other observation, there is absolutely no comparison between a Diamond and ANY furniture table. This fricken thing is a TANK!!

Those Cents will last forever. Buying right the first time👍

Nice project... the satisfaction of DIY. The satisfaction of not having to pay a hacker.... Have fun putting it together. It is a tank. It's for real.

Thanks!

The 8’ was a great training ground for the DIY learning process.

And to your point, my local room is equipped with Pro-Ams, they just had them recovered. The work is fine and they play great but the tucks and pleats at the corners betray the effort.

When completed, if it sucks, then there is only myself to blame.

If you do not like how it comes out you will learn and go again. You’ll figure it out. There are no mistakes… it’s a learning experience.

Ok, after a nuts’o work week, back to better pursuits.

Learned from the 8’ and figured a better way to do the cushion facings. Made a tape template, cut a oversized piece of rubber, glued, trimmed with a razor blade and finish sanded with the dremel. Worked like a charm. Now to get the rail cloth on tonight.

Filled in the old holes on the frame and we are primed to complete the setup and be playing by tomorrow night!
