High point 9ball, no break box, 3point rule, advice wanted

Practicing for an upcoming event, new cloth, 4” tables, 3point rule. Haven’t played high point with no box in a while. Usually, playing the CB off the side rail back to center table, taking the one, and usually the wing ball. Had to take a step back yesterday, and remember old cloth on the practice table. Got quite frustrated as the usual method wasn’t working the way I wanted. Started moving toward a cut break, slightly wider than the MR box, a bit like Filler did at DC. This worked ok, but came up illegal more times than I’d like. Should I stick to tried and tested, as new cloth will see me right? Or should I experiment more? What works for you guys? Had some great insights when enquiring about 10ball on the 10ft, hope this can be equally as useful. Thanks all in advance!
