You guys remember that time JB mopped the floor with Lou during a one pocket match and Lou lost it and went on tirade.in las Vegas ... ... Haha jk

The crowd really did him no favors despite being a hometown crowd. He didn’t say that, just something I saw watching the match. Once he started letting the pressure get to him they made it so much worse.

well he let them affect him negatively. they were 96% cheering for him, rooting for him. they were literally hanging from staircases and balconies trying to watch the match. sometimes the oohs and aahs become negative i guess, and they probably did in roberto's mind. i still hold that WC as one of the best in terms of crowd buzz and pressure. first prize was 100k iirc so it was a match of tremendous importance.

roberto may have lost the match, but daryl lost the plot being a world champion. he signed an idiot/fraud as a manager that demanded show up money for every tournament daryl would play, which of course didn't materialize. all the while eating away of the 100k. i remember archer and buddy hall discussing it back then and they were just baffled.
 
The great man having a meltdown on the snooker table. He was always pretty calm playing 9 ball. Watch from about 4 minutes 30 seconds onwards. Miscounted and conceded the frame prematurely in the decider.
