I jumped on board with the new McDermott/Chops collaboration

I have the Chops SP1. My league has 80 players in a big room 26 tables. Everyone has a break cue, so 150 mostly dark colored cues laying around. I want one that's easy to keep an eye on. They all play the same after a few weeks mental adjustment for me. And I like the way they look.

Mine arrived today. Quality for the price is pretty disappointing.

Dang. You got yours quick and sad to hear the quality sucks. $700 showpiece might be a bit much.. wondering if I should cancel the order or just resell it once it arrives.

Did you get the SP1 or SP2?

I often like different or unusual and the first collaboration between McDermott and Chops Mfg turned out a cue that impressed me in it's uniqueness. Unfortunately, I was never aware of it until years after it sold out. People were asking triple the price & more at that point.

A few days ago, someone posted on Reddit that they were going to release another collab soon in a Sneaky Pete style. I was interested, but didn't actively look into much. Anyway, yesterday I opened one of my Socials and there was the ad for this, with a link to order yours. I pounced and ordered the SP1. I should've ordered one of each, but they sold out mere minutes after I completed my order.

Realistically, I feel this new collab isn't quite as special as the original. For one thing, it comes with a standard maple shaft instead of the recycled skateboard shaft the original did. It doesn't really matter to me though. I think the whole project is neat and I will be very happy to have one of these pieces in my collection.

Which would you have chosen?
I would have chosen to pass. Just my $.02's worth but that is one butt ugly cue.

Got an SP2 because recycled skateboard art/furniture/ whatever is all about the stacked laminate pattern.
Ordered directly from chops and they are pretty close to me.
The way I took it was they had cues in stock which explains the quick shipping.

McDermott was giving an end of Nov shipping date for orders on their site.
This probably means they made a run for chops and are producing another run for the orders they took.
Hopefully those end up better quality because I was not all that impressed with the one I received. Especially given it was $670 for a sneaky pete cue.
