Practice what I Preach

The precision application of the tip to the ball,
Is perfected with the phenolic tip practice.
Take it on as a Martial art. One handed brings Ronnie (if your not in on it. Don't bet) Allen to mind. Oh and Soji in Seattle and of course The Monk.
The precision starts with the foundation.
As Yogi said, " you can observe a lot by watching.

The Trophy 🏆 photo.
The 3 ball break yield this.
Stuck whitey, one handed, phenolic tip.
Up hill both ways. 🤷‍♂️ 😉
The pad under the cue is launch pad.
Give it an hour.

Thursday league day.
So the Chase Lite is the morning exercise. Stress the slow on a cold start.
Lefty springs to the early lead with a run of 3!
One handed phenolic tip! Yikes...3 service 1. It's about the full stretching ceiling to floor. It's a fitness program. 🤷‍♂️ 20251106_052813.jpg
Interesting the delicate stroke that Lefty is capable of. Oh what fun. 3 for high run!

Higgins and Murphy in the WST
2025 World Snooker Tour International Championship.
A great lesson. Available now.

Oh gosh, the mid session chat has mention of Ronnie shooting left handed. I had noticed a lack of comment when he did in match with Lisowski.
Now it gets a mention. 🤷‍♂️ A bemused mention that the switch of hands wasn't necessarily required. Shrug 🤷‍♂️

If it feels good do it.
If it hurts quit.
Last night's league was an adventure that turned out well.
This morning pick up of second session between Zhao and Wu is sure to be a lesson.
Confidence is Huge.
Ah but first I must Make A Ball! (Better learn to shoot with hands shaking as they won'tquit until I Make A Ball! )
Last nights league presented a challenge, that went well. I had my mind right.(just like Cool Hand Luke;))
The .young players of Chinese origin most likely studied under Ronnie. The quality of the wst.tv product is A-1. Commentary by champion is Huge part of the free lesson. Well free if the subscription is for entertainment. 🤷‍♂️

Ah the geometry, and percentages calculations provide a lever point for a student of the game. 8 ball is the Old Man's game.
While I do play 8 ball pretty well. 😉
Scare E Good is a comment followed with the leverage of the "Fear Factor ".

While I don't attack 8 ball as a break and run challenge. Well initially, 🤷‍♂️ If I am playing The Girl that I watched break and run 4 of 5..... I better tighten up the game. 😉
I hear I did break and run 1 of my 5. I have no memory of records or runs. I did finish with a doozie . A spot shot length straight in kick on the 8 ball. After marking the pocket(of course 😉).
That's a good memory. 😉
The Wu Zhao Lesotho lesson is calling me. Free on wst.tv.

Start out slow is my mantra. Weight of "take it on" vs "duck and hide". Has the opponent's skill level and heart level as deciding factor.
I once had a rail bird chirp, "you don't play like That against me!" I must have missed a shot. 🤷‍♂️. My retort was, "that's because You don't play good enough to Scare me. 🤷‍♂️ "

Finding the balance while watching the tube.
Ah student of the game is a title I try to preserve. Asshole is a title I have earned. 😉

There's always a Leap of Faith shot for me in a match.
A shot that sat at the limits of my physical abilities last night was when I got dead straight on my key ball. A spot shot length straight in that needed to get back to the 8 ball on the head rail right in the middle.
Three quarters speed was my choice as any more and the key ball might not fall.
Three quarters of the way back was the result. A sweet stroke that called for a self to self conference before shooting the 8. "Make the 8 or that fabulous shot didn't happen." It works for me. 🤷‍♂️ I think my number might go up. 🤷‍♂️

The Pea in the center of whitey is my target. A pea the size of my cue tip. All influence in rotation can be obtained using variation within the pea.

Building from the ground up.
First the stance, then the dance. 🤷‍♂️

The Aim is always the same.
"We play to have fun. It's easier to have fun when you win." Is my favorite Coach McHargue quote. His method resembled the Green Bay Pakers of the late 60s.
Taking The Play serious does Not require getting Furious. It sure helps though. 😉

It does require control though. Directed to focus.

The bill of the hat provides a blinder. All the way down and waiting for the 10 second timer to click. The path of the tip through the ball is the only thing of interest available to watch. 🤷‍♂️
The Aim stats with the belly button, while standing. The balanced cue sets the distance for the square stance.
Practice the dance.
While give a chance
Doesn't guarantee
It's up to thee
One handed practice is an exercise that can build a strong foundation and promote the most efficient way to deliver the tip to the ball accurately.
The target is the imaginary pea center cueball. Watching the tip through the ball provides the data to make adjustments.
A proofed practice method. Well for me. 🤷‍♂️

Snooker morning has Higgins vs Wu finals going to 10. At mid but replay of first session is on youtube. Definitely worth a watch.
Old vs New
I anticipate the next session.

It's a fitness program. The 10 second lap .
Wash rinse repeat.
A cold morning.
Don't again at top speed.
20251109_044036.jpgWell Lefty didn't set the table so caught him on the run.
High runs can be fun. Ready set go
20251109_044642.jpg
Top speed from
Push button with 10 second timer.
Walk! Don't run, was a swim pool life guards mantra. 🤷‍♂️
Do the full stretch after the squat.
My top speed gets me to the pull the trigger point in the photo.
One handed no bridge up hill both ways.
The ball didn't fall.
But it was So close. That makes it fun way to start a day.

Tai Chi is an interesting method that I employ in my morning workout.
My One handed Chase Challenge has 16 shots. So at 1 hour I get a grade for how many were made before the clock expired.
Uh oh a clock expiration story is triggered. With 45 minutes to the 2 am close, I was down 90 playing for 10 with 2 more barrels in my pocket. At close I was up 50. 🤷‍♂️ The next day he wanted a $2 game. He even whined when I declined. My response was no to 2 but yes to 10 OR 20! He shut up. 🤷‍♂️

This morning on the brink of clock expiration Right made the extreme cut of shot 15. A make and scratch scores double by My house rules. 😉 So declared 10-6 Winner 🥇
