obviously impressive to be able to make a "9 darter" or even 180p over and over, i for sure can't do it, but the game is so repetitive to me. guy standing there throwing T20, T20, T20.. i feel the same about bowling, it lacks variance and creativity
I've long been a proponent of rando cricket, where the numbers are randomly generated, and if more than 3 normal cricket numbers come up, you redraw.obviously impressive to be able to make a "9 darter" or even 180p over and over, i for sure can't do it, but the game is so repetitive to me. guy standing there throwing T20, T20, T20.. i feel the same about bowling, it lacks variance and creativity
He would do better with carbon fiber darts that cost $1000.Yep. Two-year total, just checked. Still not chicken feed. The guy in 25th place has made about 400k US in two years.
Cause people don't drink during NFL, NBA, MLB, etcIf mosconi was more competitive I could see it. I haven't watched darts really. Close matches and a loud drunk crowd ( is that the attraction to a non-player?)

I'm not sure what you're getting at.Cause people don't drink during NFL, NBA, MLB, etc
Oh....well, if it's got a dual pixel tip, how can you miss?Darts has even more equipment variations than pool

Not sure I'd agree with darts getting big because of Luke. MVG was doing insane things before Luke was playing.I watch whole 20 days every year, i get SKY every December for the mosconi, and keep it going over the month subscription, so i can watch it all. The best and most exciting game at the moment.
Luke LIttler reminds me of O'Sullivan. Just like snooker, darts has got this big, in recent years because of him.
Influencing all these kids, and academys springing up everywhere.
If only pool could be this exciting, the thing that really strikes me is every thing they do means something, the presentation of the sport, it never seems to get old. Where as with snooker, it can get kind of boring, with each event feels like the last one.
But anyway, this worlds was just as exciting, as when littler debut 3 years ago. Not many sports could have a world championships that is 3 weeks long!!
It's almost just like pool. Different weights, lengths, grip, and tips. You can drastically improve your play with the right dart and it affects the flight of your dart, more or less flutter. You also have people who throw hard and those who loft their darts into specific areas.Darts has even more equipment variations than pool

Players aren't allowed to drink (or smoke) on stage nowadays. Not like back in the day - that was when darts really was a sport!Fans and players alike drink while the competition is in progress
Players aren't allowed to drink (or smoke) on stage nowadays. Not like back in the day - that was when darts really was a sport!
This past PDC world championship was live on Peacock in the USA (and as mentioned in the original post - some games were shown delayed on NBC).
Still way more accessible coverage than any recent pool tournaments - Mosconi included.
PDC tournaments are not open. You need to have earned a PDC card to enter. To get one is a grind. Hence the decent money for even losing early on - and about $1,400,000 (million UK pounds) for winning it. Not all pay this much - this one is the biggie.
Luckily for pool in the USA - darts in a bar normally means those pay-to-play soft tip dart 'machines' that kinda discourage the casual from playing. Too confusing (and costly) if you just wanna play 501 like you've been watching on TV.
Apparently to both the non players and the players. Given this you’d think that pool would would be doing better, especially here in America where the better majority of those that “play the game nowadays” , and I use that term loosely, seem to be cut from the same cloth. If mosconi was more competitive I could see it. I haven't watched darts really. Close matches and a loud drunk crowd ( is that the attraction to a non-player?)
I can't remember if it is ultimate pool. There's an English 8 ball pro "league" that does exactly this. I've seen Chris Melling on it.Apparently to both the non players and the players. You know, those that call themselves “pool players” that are really nothing more than hobby players that go to the bar from 1 to 3 nights a week to play leagues on bar boxes while they drink and loudly socialize, which is the main purpose of their presence there, and the premise given for this loud, drunken socializing is to supposedly be there to “play pool”.
Perhaps the attempts by MR to do something with this game are all wrong. Maybe they ought to go to Anytown USA to bars on league nights and record overweight people dressed in garish, petroleum based league shirts pound brews down their gullets and pound balls into rails on bar boxes with 14 innings to a single game.![]()

How does it discourage the casual from playing? It's $0.50 a game for 301 where I'm at. $0.25 for quickie cricket of 10 rounds, which good players don't need the entire 10 rounds for.Players aren't allowed to drink (or smoke) on stage nowadays. Oh crap, Jarts is making a comeback? What we really need is the 'PLDA', the pro lawn-dart association. Toss in liberal amounts of alcohol and too-close crowds, WHAT could go wrong?? I think MR is missin the boat here.![]()
Rando Fischer chess is awesome. Can't stand rapid or blitz though.Yes, Boring like F1, bowling so repetitive. Chess is more entertaining![]()
