Peanutbutter... Mystery Cue...

So this cue came to me in a collection of Titlist conversions that included a Palmer 2nd catalog cue, a Scott Gracio conversion and either a late date Rambow or a very early Balabushka ebony Titlist conversion (with Pete Sr. now, wish me luck).

This one is a bit of a peanut butter and chocolate cue, it has lots of nice features, but nothing that screams any one maker to me. Great six-point three veneer design, purple heart and rosewood construction, windows on the butt sleeve, flat-faced phenolic 3/8-10 joint.

No signatures, and no one feature that screams any one maker or another, sadly. There are some little design elements that seem Spain-like to me, but I know his thing was pin in shaft and this is not that...

So what says you great AZB hive mind, what do I have here....

And now the pictures!

Yes, I do, a few, but not as much as others, that is also not the point. That cue is not to my taste, my opinion. I also know ceramic tiles and design...that is all I was saying, it is good work.... relax

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion but expressing it in a slightly more tactfully might be a better option then shitting on someone else's cue.

Even better if you don't know who a possible maker could be maybe just move on to the next thread.

Might be a John Guffey with Burton Spain forearm
Wow it very it does have Guffey vibe.

He's a new maker to me so appreciate the call out!

The cue came out of a collection in Texas so Guffey is a real possibility

Just guessing, but it looks like all the veneers match perfect, joint/forearm/butt.
I'd guess the same maker who built the forearm also finished the cue.

Unless the maker purchased a forearm/butt set?

I do agree, the veneer rings match the points perfectly, and the wood in the sleeve windows matches the grain of the forearm wood.

The cue is now with Scott Gilmore getting a full refinish and new wrap.

It was an old enough cue that the varnish was yellowed, so it's going to be interesting to see how it looks with a fresh finish.

Sadly, no signature under the wrap.
Could it be a really cool, older, import? That cue will POP after a clean-up (finish, wrap, ferrule, tips).

What wrap are you having put on? The same or something different to change things up?
