Only a very small handful of players have the status to be payed to use a piece of equipment. How do you account for the hundreds of others men and women to play with CF?

Take a quick scan of the players lists from Predator, Mezz, Cuetec, Pechauer, Meucci, JFlowers etc etc. I think you will see that many are being paid in one way shape or form to use certain equipment.

It's advertisement for the manufacturers - they sell cues and shafts to the masses because of what their "sponsored" players use.

Profit is a huge motivator.

Just because a shaft it made out of carbon fiber does not automatically equate to lower squirt.

I agree but its surprising how many of the carbon fiber shafts are low squirt. Even some of the supposedly trash carbon-fiber shafts are low squirt. Its still a gamble what the Amazon vendor sends you today versus tomorrow, but, forgetting their quality control and marketing lapses, even less-expensive CF shafts can be low squirt. there is also much bad info on what they do, such as propel the cue ball better or make it go faster off the tip.
in reality all the cf shaft does "playing wise" is less squirt of the cue ball. and almost all decent players have mastered squirt and almost never miss a shot because of it.
newer players have a lot of trouble with it as they do not understand as well using english, and try to hit the cue ball exactly the same as not using english.

Everything you say is true but a new generation and future generations of players are going to be playing with CF. In many cases probably will never even have played with a wood shafts or have a desire to.

At a point wood shafts we'll just disappear as a natural result. I'm not going to do it but I'm sure there's endless numbers of an analogies that can be used to describe the same thing happening in other areas. It's not a good thing or a bad thing, just how the world turns.

It's funny I just like in the last week had an encounter with the same thing. Cleaning out some drawers and all of my hurricane supplies cuz it's hurricane season now. I must have had like a dozen flashlights all perfectly good and working that I threw out.

No one uses flashlights like those anymore. One of my new flashlights is hardly bigger than a Chapstick and will light things up like an automobile headlight. Times change and things change and hopefully for the better.

There's nothing wrong with not wanting to change. I drive a 35-year-old pickup truck runs perfect not a bunch of computers, parts are available it's easy to fix. But reality is it's got no airbags little in the way of safety devices and it's probably a death trap. I still drive it everyday though.

What are some others? I am not being a SA, just want to know if i missed something. I am trying to decide which way to go....should I consider a purchase and what would you suggest? I currently am using an OB Classic shaft.

Personally for me, when it comes to deflection, the reference point is the Predator 314 shafts, the first LD shaft that started it all and still performs better than most “low deflection” shafts.
Anything that introduces more cue ball deflection than the 314, is not LD in my book.

I haven’t tested every shaft on the market, but from my experience, it terms of low deflection, the Predator Revo and JFlowers SMO shafts are the shafts on top.

with using the correct pivot point which you can figure out or just learn soon by adjusting to the spot for you.
and using a small amount of back hand english corrects for it without upsetting your stroke or aiming points.
most or many english shots you still use parallel english on short shots or where you instantly know where to aim.

90% of the times that someone is missing a shot is due to deflection. The pivot system is far from being accurate.
With low deflection shaft, once you get used to, you miss less.
You can debate it until the ends of time, you’ll still be wrong…

I don't think wood cues will ever die unless we reach the point of all bar cues being carbon fiber.

Plus, it makes most financial sense for the cue manufacturers to sell a variety of shafts. Like Predator recently releasing the Centro, despite them overall doubling down on the Revo since 2016.

Your ranking list is dogshit. WPA doesn't include any WNT 9ball tournaments...where we see the strongest and most elite fields. This is why a year or two ago Alex Kazakis was crowned WPA World #1 player and didn't win jack shit to earn that #1 player status.

You've gotta be smoking crack if you have Wojciech and Daniel Maciol above Joshua Filler. Some of these names on the WPA "ranking" list have never even won a title of any significance, it just means they've played in more WPA sanctioned tournaments than others. Hard to take you seriously now.

If Billy Thorpe plays in 25 different WPA tournaments for the year and Filler only plays in 1, that would statistically put Billy at a higher rank than Filler. In what universe is that reality?

I don't think CF is any lower deflection than the LD wood shafts, on average. So don't expect any sort of significant performance increase. CF is just easier to clean with less maintenance in general, typically smoother, and more robust--you won't be picking up dings. The hit can often be a a lot more firm compared to LD wood shafts which are often on the whippier end, and in some cases CF (like the Revo) can feel almost dead, which can be a drawback. The Cynergy is a livelier hit.

Thank you for standing up for me, I was about to write something about this like 6 posts ago, but I didn't. You can see that I never once called him anything all i write is information or my own opinions.

He kept making it personal and calling me names, I dont know why though. I still don't get it, people have opinions Kris you know. I've never insulted you but again, I have thick skin brother, you can call me whatever you want. It will not change my opinion.

anyone who plays with wood if you're a B level you'd jump to B+ instantly and within few months you will go to that next level to A-, and if you're already a beast player then you will jump to the maximum potential that you could go, being consistent, having better timing, having better stroke...all of this will be achieved with the help of CF if you switched out of wood. There is no magic shaft or other piece of equipment that will make you a better player.
A shaft won’t fix your stroke or aim or timing or your mental game or the ability to see patterns better and so on.
