Cues for Sale... Without Extensions

I got the Hanshew Forward extension a while back, and I prefer it over the rear extension.
It fits on any cue, though I usually put it on a cheap CF house cue where I play so you you don't have to take it on and off, and you're cuing on the shaft where you normally cue, unlike rear extensions.

I wouldn't let the absence of a butt extension keep me from buying a cue that I really fancied. You should be able to find a local (maybe) cue maker to modify the cue for a butt extension and maybe even build a matching extension, or just use carbon.
Iusedtoberich will make you any type extension you need. If he has time, that is. Give Nick a shout. He'll fix you up.
The extensions he made me are still going strong. Lightweight too. Most important.

Yeah, that sucks but if it's the cue you always wanted by a maker you desire a cue from and the price is right...............................
Right now that would be an Ebony tuxedo cue with no wrap and not an excessive amount of white. It's a "I would know it if I saw it" type of thing. And I am always a sucker for a Titlist conversion.
Welcome to the club. 😉

Mensa…….The Tony Ryan extension (18”) weighs 271.3g or 9.57 ozs.

I do not presently have the shorter version at this moment since a buddy
borrowed it for a out of town tournament he competed in this past weekend.
Whew. That's heavy. Don't think I could handle that bad boy.

Well, we won't really ever know about Mosconi, will we... though I don't know of any current pro running around doing exhibitions at different venues and running 100 every night.

As to the extension issue, I still, in my dotage, compete at 1pocket events. And IMO, you cannot effectively compete without an extension, even shooting right/left as I do. There are enough shots that come up that require an extension for bestest execution. Same for 14.1. Sometimes you need an extension.

Don't know about 7 footers.

When jacked up over the pack, what else ya gonna do??

I am against them and wish they'd be banned personally. I think people should have to learn to use the bridge as well as play opposite handed. I spent a significant portion of my practice time working on all those extra facets of the game.

Having said that, I feel like I'm ever so slightly behind my opponents at times, maybe not because I'm very good oppo and with the bridge but it felt that way a few times. So I broke down and got an extension for my player. I think I've used it in competition maybe a dozen shots in 3 years.

I have changed playing cues several times since but I've found it to be very easy to get an extension added, maybe that's cuz I'm close to a great cuemaker but I would never let a cue not having one stop me from getting a cue!
I can use a bridge as well as anyone. I practiced with the damn thing bcuz the games I play often required one. With my current extensions I don't have to rely on the bridge as often. Any moving parts I can remove from the equation is a plus..
for me.

I've been meaning to get an after-market extension for my cheapy factory McDermott, I have sourced them. It's been a "gonna do" for a while now. Maybe this fall...hard for me to put much into pool gear with the way I'm playing lately.
Luv the Avatar btw... 😉

Had several cues built for me over the years including a Meucci, McDermot, Richard Black, a couple of Ginas, a Sheldon three-piece, and a John Davis/PFD blank conversion.

Only the PFD was fitted for an extension and not too long ago I bought a used Shelby, also fitted for an extension. Nowadays I'm just not willing to go through the rigmarole of sending out a cue I just bought for work. I started this thread to see if others felt the same.

When I had my last Sheldon cue built, I just had him make sure I could screw in a 3/8-16 adapter bumper. Both Tiger and Migliore (and I’m sure others) make them off the shelf.

Lately I've been seeing a few very lovely cues for sale I'd have bid on in the past -- real knock outs.

But nowadays I want any cue I buy to be fitted for an extension -- IMO it's almost impossible to play without one. In the old days I would have never thought about it. But now, after playing with two cues fitted for an extension, I just can't bring myself to buy a cue without.

What say you?

I play with a ten inch extension at the ready but sometimes still stretch awkwardly using it when I should more prudently go for the bridge so it’s a mixed blessing. I play with a Joss and an Amazon carbon fiber “ish” extension that comes with four different threaded butt adapters. I think it cost about $20.00.

I added an extension kit after buying my cue, 1 is 3" the other 7" and can be used together, I had never owned a cue with extensions so when they arrived I put the 3" one on to see what it felt like and it has only left my cue for a "wall" shot in a crowded bar room, I loved the balance of my cue with it on more than off, no more hanging on the backend of the cue, as people are averaging taller in height it's not surprising you are seeing more players using extensions all the time on their cues.

I don’t know how I survived without an extension. Plus getting older, I find I need it more.

Today, any cue I’m going to seriously play with needs the extension. I had the TNS Tom Migliore system put on my Andy Gilbert a while ago and loved it, so I figured out a way to put the TNS adapter on my Schuler, which has the unique floating bumper/weight system. Jacoby uses the same extension system for their QR Extension, so when I had my Butterfly Effect Ukraine blank converted by Jacoby, I had Brandon put that QR Extension bumper on.

The TNS system doesn’t fit on my Tascarella, so I stayed with Blokid custom extensions for it. I had one made by BloKid when I first got my Tasc, but then I went crazy and had him make me a binary stack: 2”, 4”, and 8” that I can mix and match for different sizes. It was a silly idea.

I tried to put a Migliore extension bumper on my 2003 Adam Balabushka, and even though it fit, it made a pinging noise. Not sure why, so I abandoned it.

Today, I play awfully well (relatively speaking) with my new-to-me 80’s Meucci JR3. I am considering putting an extension on it, but it’s a different thread. I need to ask Migliore if he’s got one that works for an older Meucci.

That’s a long answer to… me too! I have a several screw-in mini butts… Cuetec, Lambros, Tiger (which is awesome) and my @Sheldon Lebow, which I had Sheldon make for me a long time ago, before these modern mini butt screw-in extensions really became popular. Other styles existed back then like the built-in telescopic ones.

I copied Karen Corr when she first came to the States to play 9-ball (early 2000’s). She had a cue built with the mini butt (as it’s called in snooker) because they have that in snooker. But she didn’t have a bumper. So neither did my copy, because the idea of having to make a custom rubber bumper was too much to think about for a one-off idea between me and Sheldon. I never felt comfortable playing with that cue without a bumper, so I had Sheldon replace the screw-in section with a regular bumper. I since have sold that cool cue, but I still have the screw-in extension.

I think my extension collection points to a bit of insanity.
Welcome to the club my friend!! 👍🏻
