Try it ..you might like it. As for price shop around. Some are better than others. Also can be used as shaft adapter. I have one that adapts a Schon butt to a UniLoc Revo and one in reverse. If you do not like it someone will buy it from you.
Mid cue extensions? Yes or no?

For years, the search for the holy grail in 2 pieces pool cues was a cue that will feel like a one piece cue.
Never tried these extensions but I doubt that adding another part and another joint at the center of the cue helps in this quest…
Bottom line, they are not that expensive, just get one and see if it works for you.

I hit a cue with one and the balance, imo, was totally jacked. I couldn't stand it.
Most people I know including myself stop using it after a little while. It does not help. Changes the feel of the cue a little but that is not a big thing. The only value I like is using one to cross adapt shafts.

I actually bough one to try my favorite Uniloc CF shaft on a Cuetec Truewood. Played around with the balance (changing butt weight) and really like the 1.5oz forward weight and extra 1.75” length.
Grown really confident with it actually……

For me, being tall at 6'8", I find the mid extension invaluable, not only as GoldCrown said regarding the adaptability between shafts, but it gives me the extra length that I need. My Cohen is 60 inches, and that extra inch-plus on the mid cue extension gives me the extended range and adaptability across the different mfg of shafts and cues I own.
I've been using a 3 inch mid cue since I started playing again. With my height, it's a good fit for my stroke.
Haven't noticed any difference in hit of my cue, with or without it. Yoyo made mine. Might be why.

I was getting crushed in a match at a tournament and I remarked to the guy hitting all those shots that I had never seen anyone pocket
balls as well as he was. The guy said well 3 weeks ago I took the mid cue extension out of my cue, it had my timing off.
I took mine out right then and I think he was right. I haven't gone back but I do use the bridge a bit more. I don't miss it.
Dr. Dave is a tall person, he can likely get away with it without disturbing his fundamentals. I'm 5 ft 7 and I cannnot.
Have one made by someone you know and use 3/8 x 10 and a G10 pin instead of metal.
It will weigh a lot less and you'll still spend as much, but you'll have something you might actually use.
Commercial ones can get really heavy.
I hear people talk about balance all the time but most people don't hold the cue near the balance point, do they? I know I don't, when I shoot with a 58" cue 2 or 3 fingers hang off of the rear of the butt cap. I had a custom 2 1/2" mid cue extension made for my cue (couldn't seem to buy one that made the cue roll straight) now I hold the cue right on the butt cap but to me all cues feel forward weighted. Am I missing something??

Today I realized that a mid cue extension could be just what I need for a shorty cue that I bought recently. It has a standard 30" butt, but the matching shaft is 25". So that makes 55" total, however, that's not very playable for me. I really would like to play out with this cue.
One problem is that is has an uncommon pin. It might be a Turbo Lock?
Googling for mid cue extensions did turn up this Bunjee 6 inch joint extension with what looks like a very similar pin. But they are no longer available apparently.
I am praying to the pool cue gods that either someone has one of these and would be willing to part with it. Or, a cue maker out there could make one for my cue?

I would order a bunjee joint protectors first to see if the it is the right screw.
A better option if this cue has any value is to send it to a cue maker that will custom make a shaft for you and maybe replace the joint to something more standard.
if it's a cheap cue, then don't bother, just buy a different cue in standard length, either 58, 59 or 60 inches
I've been lucky with mine. All straight, all roll smooth.
I have both butt and mid cue. Use them on different players.
I prefer a more forward weighted axe with heavy shafts. Mid cues do the trick.
