Hi i am having trouble understanding if this is normal. Bought a valley coin op table for daughter to play on. Guy talked me into refelting it tge day he delivered it. Said the cloth was same quality as simonis 860. Paid 850.00 to refelt. There are marks everywhere. Blamed cheap balls. I bought a set of aramith balls. Still making marks everywhere. Is it just cheap cloth he is using claiming it is good cloth. Or am I missing something. I can see if it was only where you break at , but it is everywhere on table. She is 13 and dont even break hard or fast yet. Cloth looks like it has been in bar for 10 years and is 2 weeks old. Thanks for any input

Is she the only one playing?

Hitting down on the cue ball can cause burns even at relatively modest speeds, so if her/their stroke isn't very level I could see some burning.

Having said that, that strikes me a lot for 2 weeks!

What was the actual brand of cloth?

$850 to recover a Valley is pretty high.
For that price you should have gotten Simonis which retails for just over $300.
Looks like cheap $100 (at most) cloth was used so that they could get $750 for labor.

Google search result:

The total cost to professionally re-cover a Valley pool table generally ranges from $350 to $800+, depending on the size of the table, the type of cloth you choose, and your geographic location. Because Valley tables (commonly known as "bar boxes") have a one-piece slate and distinct bolt-on rails, the labor process differs slightly from standard home tables. [1, 2, 3]
The investment breaks down into the following key components:

1. Materials (Felt & Cloth)

The cost of fabric depends heavily on whether you choose standard hybrid cloth or professional tournament-grade worsted cloth: [4, 5]
This is the standard, spill-resistant hybrid cloth that comes factory-installed on most Valley tables. It costs between $140 and $210 depending on table size (7ft to 9ft).
If you want a professional, tournament-fast surface, Simonis cloth is highly recommended. The materials alone cost around $290 to $350. [6, 7]

2. Professional Labor

Labor for a straightforward re-cover of the bed and rails typically ranges from $200 to $450. Users on Reddit note that while basic jobs sit closer to $300, a highly experienced installer is worth the premium to ensure proper stretching and clean, wrinkle-free pocket folds on a Valley table. [1, 2, 5, 8, 9]

Summary of Costs by Table Size

The final professional quote (materials + labor combined) scales with the size of your Valley table:

🛠️ Potential Extra Costs

While the technician has the rails off the table, it is often the most economical time to handle other wear-and-tear issues: [10]
  • Cushion/Bumper Replacement: If the rubber has gone "dead," replacing the cushions adds $150 to $300.
  • Table Leveling: If the table needs adjustment or shimming, a basic tune-up/leveling typically runs $50 to $150 extra. [11]
If you are looking to save on labor, a DIY approach costs only $130 to $200 for standard materials. However, properly stretching the cloth around Valley rails requires specialized tools (like a heavy-duty stapler) and precision to avoid impacting ball roll. [12, 13, 14]
If you are requesting a quote from a local technician, let me know what size your table is (7ft, 8ft, or 9ft), whether it is for home or commercial use, and if the bumpers still bounce well. I can help you determine the exact materials you'll need.

It's always a learning experience.

I dont know what brand of cloth it is. Guess I will just refelt it alot sooner than I thought. I found the table free on Facebook. He charged me 1250.00 to move it. Which I had no problem paying so I didn't have to move it myself. Didnt have a problem with the 850 to refelt it, until it looked like shit 2 days later.

This looks like a rip in the cloth?

If someone is ripping the cloth in just 2 weeks I’m wondering what else is happening.
