Force equals mass times acceleration (F = ma)1/2mass times velocity squared is the kinetic energy imparted to the cue ball.
so velocity(speed) has more effect on so called power, than the weight of the cue.
If my break speed is slow it's either bad technique or the cue is too heavy for me to move. You are correct, it's mass x acceleration = force, kinda like what we were discussing, so, if your break speed is slow and you add more mass you get more force, I know, you don't accelerate on your break stroke, right?
MY break speed is bad because I don't have that quick twitch speed, it's not something you can teach, you are born with it or you find away around it......If my break speed is slow it's either bad technique or the cue is too heavy for me to move.
Neither of which is going to improve by adding weight.
I guess there are extremes where someone tries to go way too light and adding weight would help, but I would question why that was done in the first place.
Alot of benefits.........pleeeentyThose are very different things.
Cf cues may be more durable but that's about it.
What performance benefits do you figure they have?
Alot of benefits.........pleeeenty
The reason why the whole pool industry is much better right now is purely due to new technology, one of those is CF....not to mention balls, equipment, cloth.
But CF has lot to do with it, in the past 80s and 90s you got a handful of players, now you have hundreds who can actually win at any given moment...
What performance benefit? I do think of many, CF alone can assist players in their shot timing for some reason. I can't put my hand on it, but I truly believe this....without the players realize it, they will have a consistant shot timing with cf versus wood...and this alone can push your level waaaaay higher than it used to be....
Because Timing is everything in pool, once you figure this hidden treasure (Not hidden for everyone, but many) - then your pool game will push up, way up...but the thing is, even if you realize the timing and understood your own timing, you can still do a bad timing every once and awhile even if you force yourself to play in your timing, sometimes you mess it up, with wood you'll mess it up plenty more. CF makes you more consistant with it, as to the why and how? I dont know maybe its due to how the material is constructed or the weight of it.....even if the wood shaft weights the same, it just doesnt feel the same and you'd mess out on your timing way more with wood than a carbon fiber material.
I myself did notice many pro's are playing like robots now adays with them CFs, lots of ppl keep saying this.... do you know why? Cause the friggin CF made them play more constitant timing, whereas in the past you see the wooden players keep having a character, a style, so to speak.....but do you know what that leads to? LOTS OF MISSES...
Thats why peeps dislike now adays robotic game, cause lets be honest its boring....but in the same time IT IS WHAT MAKES U GREAT, why?? cause your timing will remain the same, yes boring, yes robotic...but better results. Switch to CF now before its too late, you're living in the past,,,,you're a Nokia flash light mobile guy who dislike smartphones because theyre too clumsy right? well keep using nokia if you wish, its all on you.
Worsted cloth and phenolic balls made a huge difference. Table leveling has come a long ways.Alot of benefits.........pleeeenty

Change is hard. Some people adapt others can't. That's why wood shaft still exist even though CF is a superior material for cues. It doesn't warp. If you ever live in a northern region, cold won't impact your cues. You can leave it in the car even at -40c and it will be fine. Don't try that with a wood cue. it will be ruined.
That being said, players are getting caught into the marketing BS pool cue maker as spewing. People were playing pool way before LD became the #1 selling points (Thank you predator for that). Bridge length can totally overcome deflections but hey don't tell you that.
Let me give you a better analogy. You may prefer driving a car with a manual transmission but a dual clutch transmission is by far faster and superior. It shift faster than any human can.The warping thing is somewhat overstated IMO.
Europe is the most carbon obsessed while loads of Vietnamese, Taiwanese, and Filipino players use wood shafts.
I don't think one performs better than the other, but personal preference like preferring the feel of one over the other is a valid reason for wanting to use that shaft.

You say warpage is overstated but I am guess you don't live in a nordic country. One of my buddy had to replace his cue last month because it was beyond repair. The warpage was pretty bad. Guess what he did ? He bought a Predator Revo + Predator P3.
It's true. Carbon does not make you a better player. I am the proof of that but it is easier to maintain and does provide more kinetic energy transfer than your old school wood shaft. Today's wood shaft have CF insert in them and are pretty darn good compare to the 90s maple shaft.I don't think that's a good analogy because an automatic transmission is actually easier to use and nowadays can shift more efficiently. While a carbon shaft doesn't actually make you play better. All the cue ball knows is what speed/tip position it was struck with.
I live in New York and so far have only seen bar cues warp. Several of my buddies are playing with 90s Meucci shafts still.

True this.I play with old Huebler's from the 90's. Although I have owned two Hueblers with warped shafts they were warped when I bought them. The two I play with are straight as an arrow. Old wood is good wood.
EDIT: Owning a CF shaft today is like owning a black Harley.
True this.
My son plays with a carbon shaft....and has a black Harley.
I on the other hand, play wood, and ride an Indian.
Take added power/speed as a good side effect. Pros don’t need it, most amateurs don’t need it if playing in good conditions. It’s handy with bad conditions.I agree they're probably easier to clean, but I'm personally not bothered by my shaft blueing.
As for power, I already have the opposite problem where I hit balls too hard. And there are teenage girls like Savannah and Rhaki Constantino using wood shaft and getting loads of cue action, and petite women like Seo Seoa and Tianqi Shi playing at world class level.
So the moral of this story is that if I buy a carbon shaft my cue will be faster than it was with a wood shaft????Let me give you a better analogy. The main benefit of CF is for traveling, it stays consistent and it’s more durable.
A local player can benefit from that as well but it’s not a good enough reason to ditch your wooden shaft and get a CF, but really, who needs a good enough reason to change or upgrade?
But if you are in the market for a new cue or shaft, whether it’s a first cue or just a new cue, might as well get a CF shaft and get used to it.
I’ve been playing and testing lately the Predator Centro shaft, it a hybrid shaft, a solid wood with a CF core at the front. It gives almost the same deflection performance of a CF (compared to the SMO), a bit less power. Really nice shaft but feels fragile with all the warnings on the ferrule. Might as well just a CF and an have a quiet piece of mind
You can’t really form a real opinion based upon a few shots.I started playing 3 years ago and I never felt the need to have a CF shaft. In my price range, I certainly get more bang for my buck with wood for designs I like.
I've played with the CF cues of my buddies and I didn't hate them (aside from how some of them feel without a glove), but I didn't feel like I was missing out by not having one.
