Early custom-order Palmer Rainbow, pre-1965 Titlist house-cue conversion — dated by Tate Palmer Collector, confirmed by Peter Balner himself. This is the direct ancestor of Palmer's catalog Model C (2nd catalog) — Palmer's tribute to Herman Rambow's classic design.
Documented by a Tate Palmer Collector identification letter dated March 7, 2011, addressed to the original owner (Harry) — ~15 years of written provenance, traveling with the cue ever since. That's what separates it from an unmarked "probably a Palmer": a pre-catalog custom with a dated collector's letter, Balner-confirmed, is the real article.
Provenance: the dated Tate letter has traveled with the cue for ~15 years. Documented provenance closes the authenticity question before it opens.
Construction per the Tate ID: early Palmers were converted Brunswick Titlist house cues (bought from pool rooms in the NY/NJ area before Palmer could buy blanks in bulk), built in the Rambow style — Titlist forearm, bumperless butt with rounded-over buttcap. Rainbow-laminate veneer points (purple/teal/tan).
Specs (measured on arrival, 2026-10-15):
- Weight: 20.50 oz on the scale
- Tip: ~13mm on the gauge; tip and ferrule good
- Joint: clean brass piloted joint
- Wrap: black wrap
- Points: sharp purple/green/teal/tan laminate veneers
- Shafts: one shaft
Condition: rolls dead straight — verified 2026-10-16 on a real table, shaft alone then assembled (video on file). As new, never played.
Price: $2,200 shipped!
