I had Leon Sly make me these cues about 17 years ago. Absolute monster players.
Leon Sly Titleist Tribute was built from a Purpleheart Prather full splice I had commissioned Prather to make for me. I paid $400 just for the blank way back then! I sent Prather the Titleist colored veneers I had aquired on this forum, but can't remember exactly who from. Just remember a lot of cuemakers were requesting them from the person due to the vibrant colors and quality. I also had Bob Dzuricky make a Titleist Tribute using the same veneers. Leon turned the blank very slowly to assure point alignment and stability/straightness. Took nearly a year to turn the blank down slowly and carefully. To my knowledge, its the only Prather blank Leon ever converted.
Jump break was made from a batch of tight, straight grain maple he aquired way back when. He said its probably one of, if not the best batches of straight grain Maple he had ever aquired. Maple forearm with stained maple butt.
It was a shame to hear of Leons recent passing. He built monster cues for all kinds of players. They have been stored in a case and haven't seen play for about 6 years because I now have peripheral neuropathy that prevents me from playing anymore. I hate that I cant, but life definitely has a way of throwing curveballs.
Wanted to show them off since I can't play with them so they never see the light of day. Absolutely beautiful cues. Coincidentally, I will consider selling them since they deserve to be played with instead of collecting dust. PM me if interested.
