Pool Cue Thread Art

I’ve been building and designing fishing rods for years with various wraps and decorative designs. I’ve often wondered why thread is not used more in decorative designs on cues. Also, more cork designs? Stupid question, but there must be a legit reason? Would love to try and do a full wrap and then have it coated similar to what Meucci does with linen. I would imagine, could even do the wrap with linen. Thoughts?
