the only rule that I know of that does that is at your 4 illegal break, 5 is loss of match

Shane shot at one of his opponents balls & tied it up with the eight. After that, the ref raked the balls & the score showed 6-4.
Just wondering why that was loss of a game.

I'm trying to remember but drawing a blank right now. I know that they have different levels of fouls. There are basic fouls and what the call serious fouls or something like that or may be it standard fouls. When you play a shot like what shane did I guess that considered a serious/flagrant fouls and carries the instant penalty as 4 illegal breaks.
