Snooker rules

I have read Canadian, US and UK rules without an answer to my question, unless I'm missing it. We play call shots all the time. If a coloured ball, being the object ball or ball on, is not sunk in the pocket identified by the striker but is potted in a different pocket, is this a foul and should the ball be respotted? Maybe people make local rules about stuff like this because I can't find anywhere the requirement to name the target pocket. Thanks for your help.

Okedoke. Maybe I should be suggesting that "call shots" be abandoned on the grounds that they are not required or recognized by the rules. If the group, who has been averse to rewarding flukes for so long, insists on continuing then I guess we'll have to decide what the rest of the 'local' rules associated with call shots are. Thanks for your help.
