FREE POOL....interesting concept maybe but, IT DON"T WORK

No charge for playing pool would been interesting :D

We've tried offering FREE POOL in years past on slower nights as a hook to get people in the door......JMO, it's not a good idea

Experience tells us that this promotion generally draws in the younger folks and others who don't have much money to spend and, they don't have an appreciation for your equipment.

Part of this concept is to make your room/place seem busier but, the reality is that we had people taking up alot of space and using/abusing equipment and not spending any money.

We maintain our tables and continually offer some of the best prices on all our food and beverages in town -- it doesn't come in the door for FREE -- so, it really doesn't make sense to give it away for FREE either ;)

Best Place to Play in Town

Your Room or Bar for practice or Tournament play. What are your creative ideas that have worked?

We operate a local neighborhood bar/restaurant....the best advice I can offer is to make your establishment the best place to play in your area. We've upgraded our felt this year to Championship Touring Edition 3030. It's a new offering and an attempt to draw all the players around B'Ham who no longer can play at the local pool hall (which closed in March) plus, we are hoping that it will generate more coin drops as well with our regulars and league players.

Our feeling is that we offer some of the most affordable prices on food and beverages in town too! I don't know if there is any magic bean that will work for you but, it's definitely a challenging business that you need to continually try different hooks to get the folks coming in the doors.

We do offer jackets, T-shirts, hats and that sort of thing as a bonus/prize to those league teams/players that finish well in the 8-ball or 9-ball league sessions, if they play for one of our teams.

For our monthly 9-Ball and Scotch Doubles tournaments we open the tables and add back the green fees which I think is fairly typical!? Our hope is that the bar/restaurant will generate good sales during the course of the day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) ;)

You just have to strive to make them feel welcome and comfortable as possible -- Best of luck to you :)
