Results from the WorldPPA Shootout at Garlic City

WorldPPA promoter Bob Beaulieu reports last weekend’s WorldPPA Shootout (Aug 24-25, 2013) at Garlic City Billiards in Gilroy, California
was a huge success!

Sixty-two players show up to battle it out for $2,190 of prize funds. The Shootout was a double elimination handicapped 9-ball tournament with races to eight on the winner’s side and five on the one loss side. Garlic City Billiards' owner Stephen Knittel, did a great job of hosting the event and provided food and drink specials throughout the event. Many took advantage of the hamburger or hotdog, chips and a drink for just $4! Everyone had a blast.

Albert Markasky, effortlessly amazed everyone with his uncanny ability for tossing washers & bean bags in between matches. Deo Alpajora, juggled billiard balls like a circus performer and did some cool pool trick shots. Sylvester Coronado, a tough hombre on the pool table, came with his Iron Horse motorcycle. I got a picture of me on it. What a bike!

The event was a huge family-like get-together for the whole weekend with lots of fun for everyone, playing pool and having a great time.

Tournament Directors Teresa Mojica and Lisa Coronado did an excellent job with running the tournament; it was an exceptionally well organized event. Thank you to everyone for making this a wonderful tournament!

Congratulations to Richard Kaeser for taking 1st Place and winning $510; and, to Josh Corioso, who worked his way up the one-loss side and then forced Rich into a one-loss side Final match and to a hill-hill decision – down to the last 3 balls! Great playing by both players.

Two players received a free entry for being 16 and under...
