Slow play

After picking one of books from a recent ‘Billiard Literature’ thread/list (‘Playing Off the Rail’), I was surprised to read there about a guy in Chicago I used to play (Paul Jones).
Slowest player that ever lived (heard he died about 10? yrs. ago). In fact, if he got behind in a long straight pool game, he would play EVEN slower, so when the room closed & they threw us out, since the game wasn’t over, he would claim the bet was off! Tried to get him to agree to ‘high score wins’, but he wouldn’t go for it. Eventually, I just refused to play him anymore, since life is just too frigging short. The guy would get down and stroke a half dozen shot choices, and just when you thought he was actually going to shoot, he would change his mind and start the routine all over again. Maddening.
