Does anyone else remember Mr Lane?
I was lucky enough to meet him when he was still making cues part time in 1990.
He was the only one in the Charlotte area that stock quality pool cues and would sell you one damn near cost after he got to know you if he liked you.
After a couple of years Mr Lane finally started telling us stories of the road. I got to hear some Crane stories and got to see his 10 foot Brunswick with skimmed pockets.
My fondest memory was when he showed us a $100 check from the account of George Balabushka! Mr Lane was working own antler ferrels at the time and apparently George wanted one. Mr Lane never cashed the check just framed it on the wall.
I really wished I would could have purchased a pool cue from him but he was just too old. I did get him to re wrap my David Howard original.
If anyone else new Mr Lane I sure would like to talk to you.
