how do I ask for Birdseye Dowel for forearm?

Contact a supplier of maple and explain what you desire in regards to the quality. A picture of similar wood to that which you are seeking would be helpful.

Then, you can have the wood stabilized by asking, on this forum, for a recommendation of a quality stabilizing business.

Or, contact someone on this forum like Meridian Blades. He posts photos of some really nice, stabilized woods that are for sale.

Mature, seasoned Maple is ready to go as is.

The very center heart of a maple tree produces the birdseyes going all the way around, but the heart color is usually really ugly and that is why you only see sap wood in BE maple.

So unless you are looking for the above described wood just ask for BE maple with nice figure.
