I'm about to buy this cue and have no way to tell if it's a real southwest. Any help is appreciated.

My vote is no. The trim ring at the buttcap is different than the joint. Pretty cue though. How long is the butt?

Supposedly it's from the eighties. Is there any way to contact southwest ait the authenticity of the cue?

Give Laurie a call at 702-870-9615. She will let you know if it is real. It looks like an early 80's with micarta ferules.

Based on these pictures this looks like a legit SW to me.
If it was me I'd get it.

I think, not sure, but back then SW cues had a different profile. It was coke bottle shaped so there's a barely noticeable thickness at the grip. Mine does - it's a Kershenbrock SW

Its not wax. Its Epoxy. Show me.

It doesnt look quite right to me.

Ringwork is odd.

But if it is legit, the recut points are pretty rare.

also show me the shaft ends.

If you're worried whether this cue is a Southwest or not, then you should send it to Laurie. For a fee, Southwest will examine and will issue an authentication letter. Also, if the cue is ever stolen and ends up at Southwest, they will have your contact information for recovery.
