The reigning French Champion at the Willy Gérimont Band starts the 2018/2019 season as he finished the previous season by winning the first national tournament at the Ronchin Bands by beating in the final his team-mate at Chartres Jacky Justice 120-100 in 26 occasions. This is the third tournament victory for Willy Gérimont after Saint Quentin in October 2015 and then that of Oissel in April 2018. With the 2018 French Championship in hand, this gives an impressive percentage of wins for the Chartrain with, on his last 17 games played, 15 wins, one draw and one defeat, 91% of victories over the last six months at the Bande.

It is true that the landscape of favorites has changed for several months now ... We were used to seeing Alain Remond and Bernard Villiers grab the victories in French leagues and national tournaments, this is no longer the case and the first two National ranking players are now Xavier le Roy and Willy Gérimont. Bernard Villiers is 5th French and Alain Remond 6th. Gregory the Deventec is 3rd French and Nicolas Gérassimopoulos 4th. The French elite of the Band is now very tight and it is difficult to clear a favorite at various deadlines. Still, Willy Gérimont is on the rise lately, the Chartrain has an overall average of 7.36 on the tournament!

Gérimont's race this weekend: victory against Benoit Deziles-Legros and Johann Petit in qualifying of 100 points in 13 and 11 times then success on Bernard Baudoin in quarter 120 to 79 in 11 times and victory in the semi-final against President of the organizing club Jean-François Florent 120 to 76 in 15 occasions. Willy Gérimont is also the author of the best series of the weekend with 52.

Jacky Justice will not win a third national tournament at the Bande after his two victories in 2003 and 2015. The Chartrain (MG 5.56) starts slowly in qualifying with victories against Grégory Colle and David Jacquet in 27 and 17 times then he accelerates against the first reclassification Alain Remond (Average qualifying 15.38) 120 to 91 in 19 times before delivering the best game in 120 points in the semifinal against Xavier le Roy 120 to 79 in 8 occasions.

The podium is completed by Xavier le Roy (MG 7.67) and Jean-François Florent (MG 6.00). The losers in the quarter-finals are Bernard Baudoin 5th at 5.69, Nicolas Gérassimopoulos 6th at 6.84, Olivier Jonard 7th at 6.52 and Alain Remond 8th at 9.09 (best overall average of the tournament).

The 9th David Jacquet (MG 6.56) did not go far from the final table by losing only three points against Jacky Justice in qualifying. Alain Remond achieved a remarkable performance in qualifying with two wins of 100 points in 8 and 5 times.

Next steps Douai from 11 to 13 January 2019 and Soissons from 22 to 24 March 2019 ...
