This Florida Men's Pro Tour is at Planet 9-Ball this weekend and the event was pre-Sold Out. All the Robertson tables (20) have been re-covered in new Simonis 860 and new rubber added (the slate was even changed on one).
Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant, Tommy Kennedy, Trevor Braymore and few others were already there for tonight's mini-tournaments (to start at 8:00 p.m.). Rob Saez and Shannon "The Cannon" Daulton called to say that they are on their way. The field is sold out and there are a handful of players on the waiting list. I came home to feed the pets and now I'm off again to sweat the action.
Updates on the tournament should be posted at Planet 9-Ball's new website http://www.Planet9Ball.com when roomowner Ken Miller gets a chance to take a break...
I'm outta here.... c'ya, Doug

There are/were mini tournaments going on and some great matchups. Corey Deuell was playing 9-ball and then one-pocket with Shannon Daulton and the loser had to drink a beer. Corey looked REALLY buzzed. Buddy Hall on one table and "Hillbilly" on another. Richie Richeson was playing Mario Cruz for 100 jellybeans a game on the tight Diamond table. Hennessy from Tennessee was there, but I didn't see him. Johnny Ditoro, Dave Grossman,Joey Lindi and a gang more. Due in tomorrow, are Thorsten Hohlman (sp) and a couple of more Germans (Teach ?) with him, John Schmidt, Charlie Williams and the Orlando contingent and a possible few more surprises.
I'm outta here !!!

I thought he quit pool and was just playing golf.

The updates for this tournament are posted at www.Planet9Ball.com
Kenny accidently posted some of the early results (with scores) in the 'Guestbook'. Later matches & scores are posted in the 'Forum'. I came home to spank the black cat and fry the goldfish and now I'm headed back to P-9-Ball.. c'ya, Doug

They are down to eight players on the winner's and loser's side. I don't have the loser's bracket matchups because I was busy, but I have the winner's side matches for Sunday:
Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant vs. Richie Richeson
Buddy Hall vs. Tommy Kennedy
Charlie Williams vs. Thorsten Hohlman
David Broxton vs. Shannon Daulton
I 'think' some of the loser's side players remaining are Jimmy Wales, Tang Hoa, Dave Grossman and perhaps Mario Cruz.
Scotty townsend was in the house, but not in the tournament. Donnie Mills played Joey Lindi a race to nine set for some jellybeans giving Joey the 8-ball and got the cheese 9-8. Donnie then played Mario Cruz a set 'even' and I'm not certain how that ended. Jimmy Wales was giving Richie Richeson the 'wild 8' in a 'seven ahead' set for four figures of jellybeans. Richie won that set after about a six hour struggle. They matched up for a second set and the set was undecided at closing time. I expect there to be MORE matching up tomorrow as the remaining players thin out. I'll keep you posted.

Well, pretty much all the notes that I took and scores that I kept, are useless. By the time that it took to drive 5 miles home, AzBilliards had the whole story posted on their homepage. I wish I'd known, I could have spent the hours drinking beer and flirting with the girls... About the only thing that I might add, would concern the match between Richie Richeson and David Broxton. Richie had been hitting the balls great, playing fast and shooting straight. Richie beat Brian Butler 9-3 and then started in on David Broxton. Richie led Broxton 6-3 and then................... Broxton ran Six And Out. Oy-Vey ! Noone matched up after the tournament, but Shannon was looking for a big jellybean one pocket match. There's talk he and Richie Rich may meet tomorrow for some BIG jellybean action (I'll keep you posted if it comes to pass)

I almost always read the forum before the homepage, so I do appreciate the your notes. Thanks

Rick <--- wonder how much he won in the mini’s

No,no,no. I really did have to spank my black cat. I think you're confusing that with my 'spanking the monkey'. I spanked the monkey so badly that I killed it and then I buried it in the backyard where I had choked the chicken. Now, I have to beat off the mosquitoes and go pound the balls at Planet 9-Ball.... c'ya
