This is a beautiful cue that hits great and has plenty of ivory, very highly-figured cocobola, a nice leather grip and two ivory-ferrule shafts.

$650 (the reserve in the ebay auction) plus $15 insured shipping is as low as I will go on this cue. If you do not like it you can send it back and I will return $665. If I was not on a crusade to downsize to 2 cues I would not let this go. I have four Rauenzahns and a Burton Spain, and love all of them. The other four cues are fairly interchangeable which is why I have chosen this one for departure. Plus, I am not a big fan of a large ivory joint with a small pin.

Great cue

I just talked to Jery today> I told him about one of my buddies that was trying to decide which of his personal cues to play with. A big pin Rauenzahn or a Tascarella or another big name cue Schick I think and told me you know that Rauenzahn you gave me out plays all of them! And he is a very proficient player one level below pro I would think.Nick

Nick, it's really amazing - I've played with Scruggs, Mottey, etc., and the big-pin Rauenzahns by FAR play the best. I can also tell you this - although he has a great artistic eye, playability is easily the most important thing to him when building a cue (I know you already know all of this). If you ever speak to Jerry about cues, or read his emails over time, you will pick up on this quite quickly. Just ask him to build you some joint protectors and then duck.

Don't get me wrong - I loved my Scruggs SP, and also my Mottey - they both hit fantastic - but for me the short ivory joint 3/8x10 pin Rauenzahn is the best. I played with the above ivory-joint 5/16x14 and before that with a plain Jane Rauenzahn with SS 5/16x14, so I definitely felt they were great cues, but then Jerry built me a short ivory joint 3/8x10 (he suggested it) and I liked it better...so I designed my first cue and he built it to play like the other 3/8x10 cue.
