10 Ball Break

I think you meant to say that the 7ball will go 4 rails into the pocket closest to where it is in the rack. Your diagram shows it going 3 rails with some sort of extreme english. The 7 ball will never go how you have it in the diagram.

Just didn't want to confuse anyone.

you are correct 4 rails with the 7. I posted the 4 rail goes most often and didn't put the 7 going 4 rails. Table I play on isn't level :)

If you don't break like SVB or King Kong, one possible strategy for success in 10-Ball is to let your opponent break! Has anyone ever done that -- just voluntarily give up all the breaks because you thought you'd have a better chance in the match that way?

In the Archer/Reyes DCC Fatboy Challenge 10-Ball match, Archer broke 12 times -- 7 "successful" breaks (made a ball and didn't scratch) and 5 "unsuccessful" breaks (made no ball and/or scratched). Reyes broke 14 times -- 6 successful and 8 unsuccessful. Combined, they were exactly 50/50 -- 13 successful and 13 unsuccessful.

When top pros can do no better than 50/50 in 10-Ball (granted, it was on a tight table), maybe we lesser players would do well to let the other guy break!

P.S. Does anyone have any statistics from a larger sample of pro games/matches?
