Who the hell said that pool players don't need a physical condition
I'm running 1000 balls everyday now and I'm dog-tired! My practice time is about 6 hours a day and since I'm practicing myself its really tough. By the end of a day I feel like I came back from a physical training. It this considering working out?

Good post mate, I used to have this debate years ago with the locals in my club, it was a working mens club and I got paid to practice snooker ALL DAY! I used to play for about 8 hours, and then go back in the evening for a further 4 hours of 8 ball pool. I think I worked it out that walking around a snooker table (which was atleast 36ft around) was equiv to walking many many miles everyday. PLUS everytime you lower yourself to the table you ar un effect doing a situp/crunch which is great for the abs lol Now why dont we all have six packs?!!!

On the practice front I was considering playing something I thought of called 350 ball straight pool. Thats 25 racks (14 ball each rack) which I am going to try and do everytime. If I miss I keep on going, the aim of course is to miss as little as possible and ultimately get down to a perfect 350. Of course you have to run before you can walk and anything under 10 misses will be pretty sporty. Under 5 superb, and under 3 could mean 3 back to back tons! 1 miss would almost certainly mean you breaking the 200 barrier (and possibley 200) and of course no misse will mean you join a very elite club indeed!

I'm assuming it would take around 30mins per ton, so maybe 3 hours depending on speed. 25 racks in two hours, possible 350 ball run, now all I need is a pool hall!

:D

Prob I havent tried since the last time - its been months!! :(

A physically fit pool player, I think is just as important as a mentally fit pool player. All of the top players keep themselves in good physical condition.

Buddy Hall and The Miz might tell you to rephrase that to "current day" top players..... ;)

And Kid Delicious - also he worked to loose some weight

My coach ; he said "why play a lot if youre making the same mistakes over and over". And you can do that if you play with yourself. You just reinforcing error.
Me. Now. Never get a chance to practise though I go to a pool hall everyday 'cause someone always steps up to play me. At the managers request or otherwise.
You guys are lucky if you can practise. I have to try my new stuff in match play. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. So I don't mind when a conservative player wins. I know my ability has developed and I know their's stays the same. Because I'm extending my parameters and they are playing within theirs.
In the long run, my skill will tip the scales. Developing skill and enjoying the play.Thats what intrigues me. Winning a couple games through safeties when theres no money of substance involved seems trivial to me. On the other hand, I like to play safeties too just to extend the game when I can see the other guy will pot out otherwise. Why not be his sparring partner and test him.
Though a ball can always be potted somehow.....

Most players that I know or meet here and there do not practice by themselfs. They play tournaments, money games or just play games with each other and they consider this a practice. Although this will improve their game in a long run, therefore there is no way to determine if you improved any or not. By practicing certain drills everyday you can keep your score and see exacly whats changing and how fast.

Well...let's see...you're posting your ass off all throughout the day here on AZ...you're putting 6 hours in at the table (whenever that happens).
You're also a young man. Do you ever work or did you just come over here from another country and figure out how to pillage the US welfare system like so many others? Just seems strange...just strange.
