$1200 Dufferin?!

I have seen some $1200 Dufferin Sneaky Petes for sale and I am not understanding the appeal for this price point. It is allegedly made by a nice cue-maker, who I respect, but there is not much personal touches to this cues other than a Hoppe ring. Can someone enlighten me on why these would be priced like this? Is it just the name value of the cue? Or might there be other modifications, such as balance point, etc.?

Maybe its just not for me, and that's okay.

The sellers are smokin crack. No Duff sp conversion is worth anything close to that.

I could see if expert cue maker built sneaky from ground up, maybe price could be justified. But a Dufferin with a Hoppe ring?
That would have been a add on from a maker. Still wouldn't bump price much. In the Sale section theres a nice Varney conversion for 600.

Uh No!
The skilled cue Smith could have the knowledge and skills to make one from broken bar cues. (Well cured wood is best for shafts) Roger Petit had the skills and knowledge. He had a waiting list for his sneaky Pete's.
Mine was $60 and ivory ferrule another 35 🤷‍♂️. I did tip him.
Bill Stroud name adds to the price but would not improve quality of play.

I think about $350 or 400 or so is the top price that I would pay for a Duff conversion of an ebony silver leaf with a nice new shaft - simple red or green leafs - maybe $250 or so — $500 is the upper limit for the nicest ones —IMO.

If the maker had brand new shaft fitted to it and it's a well known cue maker, then I can see it going for that price. Don't forget that a CueTec goes these days for about $1000.
Not justifying it, just saying, I can see the logic.
