13mm to 12.75mm

I have a 20 year old Viguera cue that has a great hit in my opinion but Im tired of the 13mm shaft. I use friends cues that are 12.5 and 12.75mm and l like the smaller shaft better. I'm wondering what risks I run of having it taken down? How much weight would I loose? I understand I can't go back up but that doesn't worry me as long as the hit doesn't change. Thanks is advance for your help.
 
The hit MAY feel a little softer since you are losing material in the shaft, but if it does you should be able to compensate with a tip change. Use a set of calipers and look at how small 0.25 mm is to determine for yourself how much it will affect balance.

Thank you, that is good advice, I had not thought about compensating with a harder tip. I believe I want to go down to 12.5mm but I figured Id start slowly.
