Afternoon all,
I started playing 14.1 on English tables a few weeks ago and I've noticed that the game is totally different compared to playing on 9ft American tables. On a 9ft'er I can regularly run 70's and 80's without too much trouble but getting past a 30 on an English table is proving to be a right pain in the arse.
A few Observations;
What I've noticed is that the long rail shot in the US game is almost out of action on a UK table if you want to get some high runs. Having rounded tight pockets(UK) changes the dynamic of the game massively.
You can play more thin, shallow cuts into middle pockets on the UK board as the pockets are a little more 'open'.
Space is a premium. You have to nail the position every time on the UK board because it gets very cluttered around the rack very easily and you end up with 3,4,5 ball cannons more often that not.
Because of the difficult rail shots, you need to play a lot more splits into clusters which adds more uncertainty to where exactly the spread will finish up.
Has anyone else played the game on both boards and if so, i'd like to hear any experiences/tips for pattern and shape between the 2 variations.
