Here are some stats from the double-elimination portion of the 2023 American Straight Pool Championship played October 25-29 at Q-Master Billiards in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Free streaming was provided on the Facebook page "American 14.1 Straightpool Championship." Mario He won the event, defeating Lee Vann Corteza in the final match.

Eight matches were streamed on the feature table (Table 26) for this portion of the event, representing 27% of the 30 matches played in this portion of the event. The first of those 8 matches was played on Friday, October 27, the next four on Saturday, Oct. 28, and the last three on Sunday, Oct. 29. Matches on the winners' side through the hotseat match were to 150 points, matches on the losers' side were to 125 points, and the final was to 150 points.

This portion of the event was preceded by a group stage (5 groups of 6), with round-robin play in each group. Sixteen players, the top 3 in each group plus the player with the next-best record, advanced to the double-elimination stage, with players seeded based on their round-robin results.

For similar information on the matches streamed on the feature table in the round-robin portion of the event, see this thread: https://forums.azbilliards.com/thre...pionship-round-robin-matches-oct-2023.558342/

The conditions for this event included:
- Diamond 9-foot table with 4 1/2" corner pockets and new blue Simonis cloth;
- Aramith Tournament Pro-Cup TV balls, including a red-dots cue ball;
- triangle rack;
- rack for your opponent (with some exceptions for the opening break shot);
- foul on all balls;
- no shot clock;
- lag for opening break;
- a player who reaches game points on a run of at least 75 may continue the run to try for bonus money.

Attempted Scoring Innings means the player's total number of innings for the game minus the number of innings that he played only a safety or an intentional foul (no attempt to score a point).

PPI is Points Per Inning = total points scored in the game divided by the total number of innings in the game for that player. [Note: I call this measure Points Per Inning rather than Balls Per Inning to be a bit more precise in the definition, since the number of points a player is credited with in a game can be quite different from the number of balls he pocketed.]

PPASI is Points Per Attempted Scoring Inning = total points scored in the game divided by the number of Attempted Scoring Innings in the game for that player.

All information is given first for the match winner and then for the match loser (separated by a comma).

Thank you for this information - one could almost see from the very first day that Mario and LVC were the right picks to battle in the end .

yes. i was hoping for thorsten to catch a gear, but that seems less likely these days than ralf doing it. i have noticed the last few years that thorsten is jumpier than before. pockets are tighter now than in his prime years, but it does seem stroke related

No youtube replays this year. Any videos of the finals online?
I just checked the Facebook page "American 14.1 Straightpool Championship." They still have a video of the first 8 hours that were recorded on the final day (labeled "LIVE NOW DAY 5.1), which includes the hotseat match, the semifinal, and the first 50 minutes or so of the final match. But then they hit the 8-hour limit for a Facebook video and had to start another one, which I don't see there.

Too bad. Don’t do Facebook (no free access like youtube).
