Funny you should ask that. Like most SW shafts with this taper, they weigh 3.6 oz.

ps- From you who wouldn't spend the $250 a shaft from SW and wait for them, your price assumption has as much credence as your scale reading abilities.

Just another Bald Guy,

LOL. Boy, ain't that the truth. Lesson learned, if you are going to have work done by a cuemaker, go to one that puts out good quality. The wait for the shafts is another matter, takes too long. Then again, I waited over two years for Skip to make it right. : )

Doug

You went to one that puts out good quality, except you assumed the shafts were going to be what you wanted. If you don't ask for certain parameters, such as weight, then you assume the cuemaker has mind reading abilities. I have never ordered replacement shafts without specifying weight, ferrule material, diameter etc.. Of course thats me and I have done it before.
You waited 2 years because of your attitude, thats on you, not him. Not to mention your penchant for telling stories that rival the brothers grimm. See here is how big boys tell the truth..

Had you done this, you would have a case. But if I was Skip, this is what I would have done once I received the shafts, posted it here in AZ, posted your e-mail to me, and told you to go to hell. Luckily for you, Skip has more patience dealing with the nit crowd than I do.

JV

BTW if you don't send him the butt to match the shafts, than you have no clue whatsoever.

Just Another Bald Guy,

Did someone drop you on your head as an infant? When I order a shaft I expect that shaft to be made of quality straight grained maple, which is heavy by default. I don't feel I need to ask the cuemaker to make the shaft out of decent quality wood, I assume that would be the case. As far as other dimensions, I asked for 13mm, ivor-x ferrules, and I wanted the ringwork to match spot on. What I did not ask for was warped shafts, chipped ferrules, shrinking shaft wood, light shafts, rough sanded shafts, and ringwork that popped out. I certainly did not order "useless" shafts.

Now before you go crying about how I'm making this up, why don't you ask Skip why he is making two new shafts? According to him his own shafts "could not be salvaged". Or better yet, get on that old bike of yours and peddle on down to Skips place and check them out yourself.

You'll probably like them however, since i don't think you have a clue about cues, or anything else for that matter.

Your Pal,

Doug

wow you two really need to drop it... skip is making ammends why can't the both you just be happy with that, i understand salamander is upset with his shafts and there may or may not have been some embelishment, and classiccues i understand your need to stand up for your friend in his absence but enough is enough. this is spilling into threads where it doesnt need to be. this was a thread about a southwest cue that classiccues is selling not about your childish feud.

How much did they weigh?

And its not heavy by default, talking about getting dropped on your head. It's like all other wood, it's weight is dependant upon quite a few parameters.

First off, let me interject with the fact (not opinion) that Skip does make an excellent cue. His craftsmanship is superb. Does a mistake leave his shop once in a blue moon? I'm sure. Does this happen with any and every cuemaker in the game? You bet your a$$ it does.

The important question here is, if you wanted South West shafts from the onset, why not go to South West??? If you try to bypass a wait and an expense knowing full-fell that you maybe sacrificing quality, then why complain if the quality is not equal to that of South West? Shouldn't that have been expected?

Just wondering,
Is there a mysterious price on this cue that its not posted, do I need to know someone in the business, seems funny a cue like this is not priced for all to see, maybe you don`t really want to sell it or just waiting for an outrageous pm bid.

thank you sir,
the houseman

The price was up for all to see until an offer was made.
It will be up to Joe to give you his listed price.

Well the cue is sale pending, and there was a price on it. If the sale falls through the price will be put back on. But I don't think that is going to happen.

Unlike many here, and being in the business as long as I have been, I always price my items. There is nothing more dubious than not doing so, especially from a dealer, and nothing more aggrevating than someone not having a price in mind.
