Here is another rotation continuous tournament. I've changed the name to Danny's Rotation to eliminate confusion about the name.

Rules of Danny's Rotation;

Full rack is played in rotation, with each ball counting one point. One ball is racked in front, and the rest of the balls are racked like an 8 ball rack, with alternating stripes and solids and the 8 ball in the middle.

Ball in hand after each miss by opponent. Breaker has ball in hand if a ball is made on the break. If no ball is made on the break, incoming player has cue ball in hand.

Opponent may pass the shot back to shooter after any miss.

A preset number of points is played to, like 75 or 100.

Offensive play only, safeties are not allowed.

I really like this game format a lot. I played in Danny's first tournament and had a great time competing. There are no safeties allowed so, at times, you are forced to come up with some aggressive shotmaking to keep your turn at the table. IMO, I think this format has a lot of potential for bringing new excitement to pool, especially on the pro level.

Imagine this... two top pros are competing against each other and each one knows they have no choice but to be offensive. How many more highly aggressive shots do you think would be attempted during the match? And, of those attempts, how many would result in a pocketed ball? Now that would be exciting to watch especially on TV. Adding a different level of excitement to TV matches could bring in more interest to our sport.

Whenever I talk to most people about pool (who don't really play), they usually talk about the trick shots they see performed on TV. They watch it because it's exciting. IMO, (to the general public) the excitement of pocketing a highly difficult shot is more appreciated than a pro running 6 racks and making it look "easy." Don't get me wrong... I for one love watching the run-out and appreciate it completely.

Anyways, sorry for the rant... I just wanted to give Danny's new format the props I think it deserves. :thumbup2:
