First day of the 2004 WPC Qualifiers in Taipei saw Filipinos grabbing both spots. Marlon Reyes Manalo for Q1 and Rodolfo Luat for Q2. :D

IMHO, these great cue artists should've gotten wild cards to WPC in the first place. Well, WPA can't give wild cards to all the great players...Luckily these pinoy players came through the qualifiers, it's a very hard way to get yourself to WPC, there are loads of top notch players there...

Exactly, that's why their wins are so much sweeter!
Why aren't you there?

Whooa, as a poor university student a trip to Taiwan including entry fees would leave me without food for a decade ! :p

Anyone to sponsor me for WPC 2005 ? :D

Do you know how far Mjantti must row to get to the WPC?

Yep. Quite long. I could also walk/run/bike through the tiny countries of Russia and China, because I'm not much of a seaman.... :p

bandido,

I watched Efren win some of his 19 straight matches at the first Tokyo 9-Ball so it's not hard to be a fan of Efren. LOL
Cheers,

Gremlin

When the player list at worldpoolchampionship.com is finished, anyone want to count how many players pick Efren Reyes as their favourite player ? It's way over half of them ! :D

Wow, I guess StanJames figured that the trip to and climate in Taiwan won't be a factor against the Filipinos. Thanks Grem. Were you at that edition of the Tokyo 9-Ball?
Edwin Reyes

I prefer an European winner. As always. But it seems that British are only trained in playing snooker. Asians will always be dangerous to capture the title. I hope not. Go Europe Go!!!

There is a new up and coming champion from Europe(Poland) Radoslaw Babica. He was 5th last month on euro-tour in Austria. I'm not sure if he got a chance to win, but he may be in top 10 or so. I hope to see and meet him at US Open this year, afterall we are from the same country :D

bandido,

Yes, I attended it was a tremendous undertaking by the WPA as there were over 700 players entered as you may know, now there is a 128 player limit or is it 64 players, since the tour was undertaken?

For example, I had to travel in a cab half way across Tokyo to a little 3rd floor pool room to see Jimmy Reed play. LOL It was to say the least a trip!!!
I liked it because it was my 2nd international trip to watch pool so I am part of History now.

Cheers,

Gremlin

Have we met? I was there and at the Alpha booth beside Dick Black's. The pic with Petroni and Babica, that was in Cardiff. Were you also there last year?
