The $25,000 added Desert Shootout will take place in Phoenix on April 24th thru 27th. ............... Alexander's, in Phoenix, is having a $50.00 entry, double elimination, (64) player qualifier on April 19th & 20th. This qualifier will earn high finishing players entry and rooms for the main event. This qualifier has a 10am sign-up on Saturday April 19th.

Alexander's is also going to do (8) player weekly mini-qualifiers on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, leading up to the main event. Single elimination, $50.00 entry, to win entry into the main event. Below you will find the dates of these weekly mini-qualifiers. These weekly mini-qualifiers are different from the (64) player qualifier on April 19th & 20th.

MINI QUALIFIERS
Thursday, April 3rd, 7:30pm 8 players
Friday, April 4th, 7:30pm 8 players
Sat, April 5th, 7:30pm 8 players
Sunday, April 6th, 7:30pm 8 players
Thursday, April 10th, 7:30pm 8 players
Friday, April 11th, 7:30pm 8 players
Thursday, April 17th, 7:30pm 8 players
Friday, April 18th, 7:30pm 8 players

How are they going to do the mini qualifiers if Alexander's is having the BCA Team Warm-up Tournament on April 5th and 6th? Are they just going to use 1 table?

How many people are going to qualify from the 64 player tournament? If you have 64 players, will 8 people qualify ((64 * $50) / $400)?

I guess us locals have no excuses not to at least TRY to play in the shootout, even if we don't want to put up $400, huh? :)

It looks like a 8 player entry tournaments....Single Elim...Winner gets a paid entry.

8*$50 = $400 entry to first place...An 8 player single elim tournament could be played on 2 tables.

I think I read top 4 get entry plus some form of hotel credit.....(in the 64 player qualifier)

He's also running the 64 player tournament on April 19th. Is it only the winner who qualifies, or the top 8. Top 8 would be cool!

Eight players put up $50.00. The winner gets the $400.00 entry into the Shootout (8 players X $50.00= $400.00). It's an 8 player single elimination tourney that does not take long.

Anyone interested in playing needs to contact Bull, the Tournament Director, at Alexander's. His phone number is 602-639-1871. He will be taking all sign ups. He is also considering running some in Tucson.

For the past five years Alexander's has ran extremely successful major tournaments that most folks figured Alexander's had no way to pull them off. The Arizona Dust-off the past two years are perfect examples. They all went without a hitch because we really do know what we are doing. Even Jay Helfert (the National Tournament guru) was amazed at how we do things and expressed such when he was here for the last Dust-off. We have been pulling off the imposible for years. I know you are new to this tournament stuff so I will not take it personally that you would even question how we can pull off the imposible once again. Trust me, we do have it figured out.

Dennis is exactly right. They are called mini's because of the eight player field and the single elim piece. They move rather quickly with a small field. ........ At the BCA Nationals, every year, they run Mini's all night long. Eight players, S/elim. one right after the other. I used their term for my qualifiers because most players, especially the ones that go to the BCA Nationals every year, would immediately understand the term (mini). Hope this helps.

For the 64 tournament the top 4 get entry ($400) plus 1st gets 4 nights stay, 2nd gets 3 nights, etc. That covers all the money from the 64 entries.

Wonder what happens if the field doesn't get full? Nevermind that won't happen.

Maybe Bull should setup an entire night for Mini's. You could run 4 or 5 in a row (or at the sametime) like Vegas and qualify lots of people. If there is a demand for it that is.

i would run them all night long but most players have to work.thats why we are doing them at 7:30 and as many as we can to help the players get in.

I thought they were called "mini" because Tyson is likely to be playing?

(kidding, of course. he is one of the few people shorter than me, so I have to get my jokes in where I can)

What you said is funny, "I thought they were called "mini" because Tyson is likely to be playing?" Tyson is the smallest 10 in the Valley.
