3/8x10 Shaft Joint to 5/16x14 Butt Joint?

Picked up neat old Dufferin with piloted 5/16x14 pin.
(way down can't remove with heat)
How is the shaft converted to butt joint?

nothing fancy, it's a Saturday Night Special.

I see no reason that pin can't be heated and removed. Just heat the very tip and let the heat flow down. Take it in multiple passes and put some aluminum foil over the joint end of the butt to protect it.
If you know someone that has one, an induction heater will work very well in that situation.
