3/8x11 into 5/16x14?

So, can 3/8x11 shaft be converted to fit 5/16 x14 (Schon) butt?

Yes. Just make sure the diameter of the shaft collar is close to or larger than the diameter of the butt collar.

I don;t think the plug is necessary, as insert is 7/16 14 tpi, no??

I guess it depends on how deep the original was drill out. I wouldn't want a void behind the insert.

They're all hollow behind the insert.
Ever build an 'i' shaft? How about an OB-1?
They're hollow all the way to the bottom of the ferrule.
The OBs now have foam in the hollow but there was a time when they didn't.
