in pool pros use over 25 different brands of cues. if you look at the top 20 pros, everyone uses something else. in 3-cushion billiards however, they only use 5 brands of cues. schueluer cues, strong fantastic, a joint of incredible strength. a fat tappered shaft that has zero, that's right zero deflection it's called a constant taper. adams cues, the same as adams for pool. helmstetter cues, this is the same company that invented the big bertha golf club. longoni, the itialian cue maker since way back in 1960. and sang lee cues from korea, which are very popular at his pool hall here in flushing, a hotbed for 3-cushion pros.

Could you please explain what you mean by zero deflection in a constant taper shaft?

Do you mean the shaft does not flex at all when hitting with english? (which would result in massive amounts of squirt)

Or do you mean that it hits with zero squirt? (which as far as I am conserned is a physical impossiblity - low deflection, yes, zero, no)

Well, the shaft has more taper so is more conical and a lot stiffer. They deflect less. Just try one. There are more than 5 brands.
