Pool players who want to improve spend countless hours, days, and years working on their game. But most of these players are leaking away growth opportunities because they aren't hitting the right areas of their game. Maybe they are practicing too much but not competing enough. Maybe they are working on their fundamentals non-stop but that's not going to yield the best return on their effort for where they are in their development. Or maybe they are playing a lot of hours but are missing information that is keeping them from the next level.

When I do my bootcamps one of the biggest areas of improvement comes just from getting an objective perspective on which direction to steer the ship and how to set things up to move in that direction. Of course in my bootcamps we then train together and I help develop certain skills face to face. But not everyone has time or money to come to MN to train, and I certainly couldn't keep up with that many people regardless. So here's a chance to at least get that third party evaluation of where to focus based on your current level as well as some guidance on how to break through in those areas.

So for those who are seriously motivated to improve and humble enough to concede they might not be managing their pool growth perfectly I'd recommend taking 30 minutes to sharpen your axe.

I agree, there is a lot of information out there. If someone was skilled at sorting through it, prioritizing it, integrating it into their game correctly, staying disciplined and motivated to work on the right things in the right order, was incredibly self-aware and had the right balance of being openminded but not wishy-washy, setting appropriate goals and taking effective steps to hit those goals, getting in the ring with top level players often enough to be pushed and to learn from them, and seeing steady improvement in their performance, well then I would say they don't need to alter their path.

There are also many people who don't have much ambition to improve, or just don't have time and energy to put into the game at this place in their life. That is fine too.

But there are also many people who desire to get better and have been overwhelmed by how much information is out there and have put the pieces of their game together a little oddly for lack of guidance and who are beating their head against the wall working on things that won't help their game or working on the right things the wrong way. This tends to be the group instruction might benefit. Even still no one is forcing anyone to train pool. Of this group we then narrow down to those who want help and appreciate the opportunity to get some guidance.

Then we hustle them into developing their skills so they can reach new levels of play and enjoy a better relationship with the game they love. Mwa ha ha...

What if your axe takes 1.5 hours to sharpen?
Every call is the same

People reveal their presenting problem within the first 3 minutes of the conversation

It then takes about 5 minutes to explain the corrections and give direction for a new practice processes

Then we go over clarifying questions

Towards the end of the call I'll go over where they're strong and how that will help them on their pool journey

This puts us at 20 minutes into the call

At this point they are more clear minded and energized to work on the skills and drills we discussed

I rounded up to 30 minutes to allow for last thoughts and so they don't feel rushed

We also cover how often we should chat based totally on how frequently they are practicing and how much they feel that they need direction

I'm charging peanuts and took this project on because I want to give players that are purposefully trying to improve the direction and encouragement that I never had coming up.
