Tournament will be Texas Express Rules. NOjump cues will be allowed. Players may use a break cue to break but finish the rest of the game with their playing cue. If they want to jump a ball with a full pole they are welcome as long as it it their playing cue. As far as the calcutta, only the top six places will pay. I don't want to spread the money too thin by paying too deep into the field. My philosephy is if you win it, you win something!!!

No you may not change shafts for a jump shot. If you need to change shafts because your tip is loose or worn out or the tip comes off, you may change shafts. You can not change just for a jump shot. I am not a big fan of bringing a golf bag to a pool game.

This sounds like a great tournament, I just don't get that certain players should have an unfair advantage. If I can break with a break cue, why can't I jump with the same break cue? No golf bag needed. If a player has a stiff shaft he can jump,if he has a low deflection shaft he can't jump. The only fair solution would be to ban ALL jump shots. boom, level playing field.

Ray, I am trying to discourage full ball jump shots to preserve the integrity of a well played safety. If a player is slightly hooked by the edge of a ball, then a very slight elevation is needed to clear it with your playing cue. I don't need to tell you that because you obviously have an understanding of the game. I am also aware that any idiot can jump balls with a phenolic tip and some of those idiots tend to jam their cues into the table tearing the cloth. By taking away the option to use their jump cues, they are more likely to attempt a kick shot.

Ray, are you the one who told me that if I add new material to my thread that it would move to the top? I have updated my original thread, but it stays buried in the second page. Bill

Yes, Bill that was me. You simply need to use the quote button on any previous thread and that info will carry forward, then add some new info. You can also use the post reply button to add info. Both will move your thread to the top.

Thanks for your thoughts on the jump shots. Maybe just say no jump shots, period, would be the only fair solution.

The game has progressed, if the safety is in fact well played then you won't have to worry about a jumpshot because they won't be able to jump it. I do not see how banning using a break cue while it is the full cue to jump makes any sense at all. Yea any idiot can jump over the ball but then what, it takes a master of the jump shot to actually make the ball and play position or execute a safety.

Eric.

ban jump shots see more stratagy!

i think its a good idea to ban jump shots"PERIOD". why should a guy that plays bad position be rewarded for bad play by being able to jump and still get out? let the players learn the diamond system and be more skillful kicking! sparky

i certainly disagree that the game has progressed with the use of jump cues and phenolic tips...as stated earlier a novice can now get up and over a full ball within a few inches with some of the jumpcues on the market...it's not an acquired skill...it's simply equipment induced and i think it should be frowned upon...i welcome any promoter that sees it that way and will be doing what i can to support it...c ya in a few weeks

Yeah and the world is flat!!:D I know people that can jump for shape, jump draw, jump safe.....It is definetely an aquired talent.I wouldn't mind any rule that is fair to all players. Allowing jump shot with playing cue only is not fair. If you play with a Predator,Meucci or an OB-1 you are at a dis-advantage. Ban the jump or allow it, don't just let some people jump.

Put me down as a maybe.

Info...

What is the cueball that will played with? Why no answer to this question? Is it mudball?

Ray

Sorry to take so long to reply to the cue ball question, I have been looking at the other thread. The tournament will be played with the valley cue ball with the green aramith emblem. The 5 difficult shots will be on a 9 foot gold crown. thanks bill
