Hey Guys,

I need some help! What are the general specs of a 3C cue???

Length? (are shaft and butt same length? L/2?)

Weight?

Taper?

Tip diameter?

I had a friend ask me to make him a stiff hitting 3C cue, but I've never built one before... Just wondering what works...

Check out caromcues.com. He explains it all. Ron Kilby has excellent knowledge to give on the subject.

As far as I know, 56 in, 15-17 oz, rear balanced, 11 mm tip, and pure conical taper are what most prefer.

Thanks full-splice,

I'll give it a try... BTW, do you know why the tip diameter is so small? Aren't carom balls larger in diameter???

Thanks, and happy cueing!

Hey,

I stand corrected... FSF, you are correct. I gave the dimensions for a masse cue!

LOL:eek:

As far as the tip diameter, I'm guessing its to place english more accurately on the ball, since extreme amounts of english are used in almost every shot. A smaller tip also allows you to contact further on the outside of the ball, I think. Dont quote me on that tho:rolleyes:

I build mine in general at 56.25'' (the butt can be longer than the shaft), 18.5oz. the taper can be conical or even larger at some points in the taper and tip diameter at 11.8mm. Try to balance the cue as rearward as possible. This is the most standard for european players. Of course it can vary but with these dimensions you can't go wrong. You can check out this page on my website (http://www.layanicues.com/en/datatech.htm) but my standards have changed a bit to meet the general demand.
