Some of my friends have started playing this variation to 8-Ball and I am curious either what is the proper name of the game so ai can find some rules.

They are called 8-ball rules...

The 1/15 stipulation was in the books in 1948. Older players would carry them through.

"Alabama 8-Ball"

I've learned here on this Forum that in some places the game is called Alabama 8-Ball. The rules for 8-Ball apply plus the 1-Ball is to be pocketed on the left-hand (from the breaker) side pocket of the table and the 15-Ball is pocketed in the opposite side pocket. Who ever chooses "Solids" has to pocket the 1-Ball and whoever chooses "Stripes" has to pocket the 15-Ball in the right-hand side pocket (from the breaker's side).
It's a fun game, but after a few hours it can get boring.

Thanks for the info. The game does add a little something to the standard format i.e. some strategy difference involved.
