Hi
Currently I break from about a ball in from the rail on the right hand side of the table and hit the second ball as square as I can. I use just a touch of left hand english and just below center. I find that I can get a ball on the break maybe 70% of the time. The only problem I have is that if the whole rack is not tight a lot of balls tend to drift to the right hand side of the table and gather together.

I have been practicing the 8 ball break just like you would for 10 ball from center table and hitting the headball square, trying to the get the two balls below the headball to come back towards the center pockets. The balls split much nicer every time, but I am currently only able to get a ball about 40% of the time. I am going to keep practicing this one at home simply because I like the way they split, but unless I can up that percentage I won't change in match play.
