Why Ray Martin will not update this book is beyond me! It is a great shot making book. There are some mistakes made in the book. Does anyone know a website that points them all out? Thanks!

Actually it is kind of fun to set up the shots and see that some can't be made as diagramed. Good learning experience.

One is the hook shot Pg. 123. CB needs to be a little closer to short rail and OB as close to cushion as possible (1/2 ball at pocket tit as shown). Then hit with medium speed and *lots* of follow through. Leave the tip of the cue stuck in the wall beyond the table - follow through!

The ball elimination shot Pg. 119 works for me if the two balls are angled more so they are pointing back toward the second diamond (long rail at bottom of picture) rather than 3 1/2 diamonds as pictured. Also move CB over to this alignment or a little to the right of the alignment. Then hit with fast draw aiming slightly to left of first OB.

Then there are a couple of "wired" 3-ball clusters which are not exactly right. Forget which ones...

Ray Martin won't update this book, because; 1. He is to old to really bother with rewrite the book 2. No publisher with pay him to do it and no potential market that will buy it to make a profit and 3. Straight pool is non-existant in a regular tournament envoirnment, so the need/ demand for another straight pool book / 99-shots is just not there. Otherwise, its a great book and has done well in its time as well as great reference book.

All Points well made.. Thanks for the input! I never thought that the publishers would not pay him to do it! It does make a lot of sense though as to why Ray has not updated his work. :(

Pool players know everything (just ask them) so they will not spend money to buy books. If they do buy it all they do is criticize it.

A few years back Ray was going to team up with Jay McVinney and produce lessons via internet but it died due to lack of interest.

Bottom line - no profit potential so a publisher will not print it.
