I think the new 99 rating system is the best thing that has happened to pool in a long time. However, I feel handicaps should be made in scores based on table size. Frankly, it is not fair to say that a player who scores an 80 on a 8 foot table deserves the same recognition that a player who scores the same on a 9 foot table. I believe the handicap should be around 5 balls per table size. Whats your opinion?

I must have been snoozing again. I never heard of this 99 rating system before. I say, take your skirt off and play the game straight up. If you can't play straight up with someone and don't like losing, don't play. I learned to play by paying time and racking. If it was good enough for me, it's good enough for the rest of you, imho of course!

My opinion is that handicaps in tournaments shouldn't be. To make terms equal between a great player and a lesser player, is completely unfair to the player that has become better by practicing and putting in harder work(most cases).

If you want to beat a better player, you have to play better, not rely on a handicap.

How about recording the difference in the number of balls on each, doing each ten times?

Then you can work out the average difference and have that as the handicap.
