Barry, thank you for putting on another great event. Last yr was the 1st time I got a chance to attend the open and I'm so glad that I was able to go again this yr. I had a much better time this yr than I did last yr. I was able to do more and see more so the overall experience was better this yr for me personally. I love the seating at the open... it's cushioned chairs on raised platforms with plenty of space. It's possible to watch 10+ matches at a time in some seats.

Also thank you for adding the extra money even though there wasn't a full field and thank you for paying the players promptly. Some unfortunately couldn't afford to go at all and others scraped by to get there this yr. Players that were eliminated in the early rounds were paid the same day and the players eliminated in the later rounds were paid around noon the following day.

Thanks to all the players for being there so that fans like myself could once again watch pool played at it's highest level.

Purdman, it was a pleasure finally meeting you in person! LOL, he was like a kid on Christmas morning all week long. At one point we were watching one of John's matches and he said he couldn't take it anymore, he had to leave the room. I started laughing and told him that now he knows what it feels like to be a players girlfriend. :p The majority of players out there have no clue what it's like for us to sweat their matches.

Skins, JKjerry, & Wagnew, it was a pleasure meeting you guys. Thanks for introducing yourselves. Skins, good luck with your game this yr... I'm looking forward to rooting you on next yr at the open. ;) Of course there were the AZB staples of the event... RichR, cueball1950, nostroke, jmd in va, Brian in VA.... it was so good to see you guys again. Where I'm from the phrase "good people" (he's good people) is used often to describe genuine, nice folks... ya'lls good people. ;) I know that I'm forgetting someone right now... please forgive me. It's late and I've averaged 4 hrs of sleep a night this past week.

Action at the pool room was phenomenal... too much to remember. The one that sticks out in my mind is Scott Frost vs Shane VB, 8 ball on a barbox. WOW! Shane was making 2 & 3 balls on the break and stringing racks. The only time Scott got to the table was when Shane scratched on the break which only happened twice I think. Scott always got out but never made a ball on the break and Shane would be right back at stringing racks. Shane, your break and your prowess around a clustered barbox was impressive to say the least. ;) Thanks for the show!

The CCB tournament went well. We played a 4 person, 10 ball ring game format this yr. RichR and Cathy (K? Sorry, I asked for clarification before and I've forgotten already) ran it without a hitch and we all had a really good time. Thank you Tony Robles for stopping by. I was leaving as Tony was arriving but I know that he stuck around and played pool for quite awhile with 3 or 4 people and they enjoyed it immensely! Getting to shoot pool with Tony was pretty much all one of the guys could talk about afterwards. Tony you made their day to say the least. Thanks for being such a gentleman and spending quality, fun time with your fans.

Thank you Alex P. for entertaining us at the picnic table. LOL, Phoebe one of these days you're going to have to tell me what a day in the life is like for you having two small children and Alex in the house. :D There were quite a few of us outside at the picnic tables and Alex started in with stories that had all of us in stitches. I was standing next to the table and made the mistake of trying to take a drink while Alex was talking... I'm still surprised that I was able to cover my mouth quick enough that I didn't spew my drink all over the person sitting down in front of me. LOL, Alex you're a HOOT!

Francesco Tomati, aka "Tom" here on AZB who is the designer for the pool clothing to which you can find the link in Francesco's profile/signature. Francesco, I wanted to simply link your site right here so people wouldn't have to search for your profile but I'm not allowed to post links that divert people to other websites without permission. Go check out his stuff folks... he's got some really nice things and he's such a nice guy! He was kind enough to give me a hat (I offered to pay for it and he wouldn't hear of it!). I'll post a pic of the hat tomorrow. Thanks again Francesco, it was so nice to meet you. ;)

In the end, my body hates me and is happy it's over because I abused myself with no sleep but I enjoyed this week so much... I was sad that it had to end. Today before I headed home I went para sailing in VA Beach.... of course I had to go alone because I couldn't find a single person willing to go up with me. CHICKENS!!! :p

John, a big congrats to you. You know I think very highly of you. All anyone has to do is take the time to meet you in person and they'll know that you're a good guy. I sincerely hope that this opens up many doors for you. I know that you can and will make a lucky sponsor very proud. ;) Rachel (sp?) it was a pleasure to finally get to meet you. I hope to see you at Derby and get a chance to talk to you more.

Barry, John, Purdy, everyone... thanks for a great week. I'm already looking forward to next yr!

BTW, about an hour after Barry got done filling out this big fictitious check, John had a real check in his hands.... just the way it should be. ;)

It sounds like everyone one that was fortunate to be in Chesapeak had a great time, considering everything else going on in the world of pool it is nice to finally see something positive for people to talk about. Congratulations to John and Rudolfo as well as all the other players that finished well. Do you have any other action stories for us Timberly?

Well i can tell you that Cliff Joyner tried to give Evgeny Stalev 9/7 in 1 pocket for 300 bananas, and Evgeny took him to school. Cliff quit down 1500 bananas.

And i know that Shane VB gave cliff 21/17 in 8 ball for 2000 bananas with Shane VB winning that one. And i know that Evegeny Stalev wanted to play Shane VB a race to 10, make what you break, for 3000 bananas. But Shane wanted to play open table after the break only. So they never got together from what i saw.

I also watched Kuo playing Lee Van Corteze 10 ball races to 10. Minimum 2 sets for 1000 bananas each. i don't remember who won. I believe the Lee VC won the 1st set.

i was real surprised to see Mika on the table doing a little gambling. Once by himself and another time with marcus Chamat as his partner.

I was really surprised to see hardly any 9 ball being played. All i saw was 10 ball, 8 ball, and 1 pocket.

Don't remember any more. Head still fuzzy from trip..............mike

We had to change the format this year, for the CCB tournament, and settled on a multi-table ring game, and we suffled players periodically.
We are happy to say, everyone seemed to have a good time. :D
And, it is Cathy. :D

Tony Robles is a class act and a very nice guy.

Thanks Timberly, I reply today because I'm just back home from the long trip Holland-UsOpen-Switzerland.

It was a pleasure for me meeting you, each time I met you around you had a smile and a nice word for me and that's what makes you one of the nicest people I met. I hope to see you again soon! ;)

Timberly,

I have only been fortunate enough to attend the US Open once, in 2004. Alex had been holding court all day outside and finally decided to come inside and watch the finals.

The first game , many of us have seen it on tape, Thorsten rattled an easy 9-ball. The crowd was in absolute shock and you could hear a pin drop. Gabe walked to the table and sank the hanging 9-ball and from behind the bleachers comes Alex's comment "NICE OUT GABE"

Needless to say the whole room cracked up.

Gabe grinned :D

You should start saving your pennies and try to make the next CCB tourney sniper.

You will have a good time guaranteed.
